5.0 out of 5 stars One of Andi's Masterpieces, October 6, 2004
Leave it to Andi Sexgang to do something different. Although Medea gathers recordings from multiple sessions (giving the album an inconsistent sound quality), Medea still brings together ten essential Andi Sexgang pieces. Barbarossa and Guy Wonder are dark pop songs. Alien Baby and Giaconda Smile sound almost Celtic (with a heavy rock element, of course). Medea, Skin, Arms of Cicero, and Shattered Room are slow, sensitive pieces. Skin comes across as a particularly personal song ("No more fags for the hags," he sings, "and no more time to be wicked"). Boss and Beauty is the most polished of the ten songs. A very dark sound with Arabian and Spanish influences. Finally, Sugar Pill is an interesting synthesizer piece actually written by Dave Roberts, the guy who played bass on this album. If you're just getting into Sex Gang Children/Andi Sexgang, start with some newer stuff like Last of England or Bastard Art. Medea sounds dated, so you must come to the table with an appreciation for the work of Andi Sexgang or you just won't get what makes this album special.

4.0 out of 5 stars If you like sex gang children you wont be dissappointed, August 16, 2001
By A Customer
I bought this c.d. specifically for 2 songs. THe songs are Shattered Room and Skin. Those songs are extremeley beautiful in both the music and the lyrics. I could listen to those 2 songs forever and never get tired of them. The rest of the songs are mainly all good except for one which is Boss and Beauty but that is just a matter of opinion. However, after listening to the c.d. a few times even that song is good. Sex Gang is an aquired taste but once you aquire that taste you just can't get enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Incredible Album!, October 6, 2004
This review is from: Medea (Audio CD)
Leave it to Andi Sexgang to do something different. Just to give you an idea of how diverse this guy's output is, consider that the other album released (at least in the U.S.) in 1993 was God on a Rope, one of Andi's esoteric spoken word albums. Medea brings together recordings from multiple sessions, giving the album a somewhat inconsistent sound quality. Nevertheless, Medea is still a great collection of great songs. You'll find everything from pseudo-industrial (Barbarossa, Guy Wonder) to tearful self-exorcism (Skin, Shattered Room). This album is not for the first-time Sex Gang Children/Andi Sexgang collector. Pick up Medea after Last of England, Bastard Art, Faithfull Covers, Blind, and Deiche. By then, you'll love Andi's unique approach.
