Works great with fine ground coffee
on September 17, 2011
I bought this recently but had a can of regular American ground coffee at the time, and like many reviewers point out, it made weak coffee, even if I put in more. I gave up on it and started using a French press--I really didn't want to use coffee filters any more. However, when a buddy of mine got me more of the German fine ground coffee he supplies me with, I tried it again. There is a huge difference. This filter was obviously meant to be used with fine ground coffee--like the grind you might use for espresso. It makes really rich, flavorful coffee with this grind, and most of the time that's the kind of coffee I like anyway. So the coffee maker and the filter are back to stay. French presses seem messy and hard to maintain by comparison. Don't use this if you like to use coffees like Folgers, Maxwell House, or 8 O'clock coffee, as you will get water. Use a filter or percolator coffee process for that. But if you like the finer grind and a stronger coffee, this is the way to go.
