About the Author

Dr. Arnold received his doctorate in Mass Communication and Journalism from Ohio University. He has been teaching at Marshall University for 30 years.

More About the Author

George T. Arnold, Ph.D., is a professor emeritus in the W. Page Pitt School of Journalism and Mass Communications at Marshall University. He has bachelor's and master's degrees from Marshall and a doctorate in mass communications/journalism from Ohio University. He worked his way through eight years of college as a full-time newspaper reporter and taught journalism at Marshall for 36 years. He is the author of Media Writer's Handbook, a Guide to Common Writing and Editing Problems, 6th edition, McGraw-Hill. In its 18 years of publication, the book has been used at more than 300 colleges and universities in the United States and abroad, as well as by professional mass communicators.

Dr. Arnold most recently has been writing fiction -- a short story called One Minute Past Christmas, and a novella called The Reluctant Gunfighter, both available on Kindle e-books. He serves as a consultant to academic journalism programs, professional news and public relations companies, and governmental agencies by providing language skills workshops and seminars, editing and individual coaching. A native West Virginian, he now lives in South Carolina.
