This book is a great resource. I'm a Certified Professional Coder, Physician Based and since 2001, I've been purchasing this book's new edition every time one is available.

Have one about 1997 edition. This one is a bit thicker. Don't really need the pharmaceuticle listings in back but thats OK. Works great, whole department uses it.

great resource. using it for a summer project to document our groups commonly used abbreviations for auditing purposes. complete and concise.

As a medical transcriptionist, I hear many abbreviations and acronyms in my work, and need I tell you that there is absolutely no way to remember even a fraction of them? I am glad there are people willing to put their time to good use by compiling volumes such as this for people like me who could easily spend much of their time doing research in many other books and online. I can instead come to this one resource and find 99% of what I am searching for. Also, in both the beginning and the back pages of the book, there are many features that you might find interesting. This is a reference book I would recommend for any medical transcriptionist (not specifically for newbies).

This book is a "must have" for anyone in the medical field or anyone who wants to find out what the abbreviations mean that you see on TV, e.g., "House." I have found it almost indispensible when doing medical transcription, and I have worn out my 1995 edition of this book.

As a medical transcriptionist with over 35 years experience, this book is one of the most valuable and useful reference books that I own.

I work in the medical field and have a co-worker who owns an earlier version of this book. After borrowing it countless times for clarification of obscure abbreviations,(and always finding the correct answer), I knew I needed my own copy, which now sits in a place of honor on my desk at work, and is quickly becoming as dog-eared as my co-worker's!

This is my second version of this book and it is totally awesome. I am a medical transcriber and frequently have to look up abbreviations. This book has a lot of abbreviations and is bigger which makes it easier to handle. I recommend this book to any transcriber.
