This book is great for nurses!,

This book is supposedly reccommended for persons employed in medical records, however, this book is also great for nurses, pharmacists, or anyone who is frequently reading physicians sloppy and abbreviated orders! It has been an excellent addition to my collection of books. It's also small enough to carry to work in your pocket.

I am a medical records coder, and this handy little book sits right next to my ICD-9 code book. This is the 3rd book (edition) I've purchased. My first one had 8600 entries (1992).

If you're in the medical field, you use and see a lot of abbreviations that may be confusing to you. Even seasoned med records techs/transcriptionists can use a little help when it comes to the sometimes confusing terms. Is Pt patient or prothrombin time or platinum? And what does "R" mean in relationship to the records you're looking transcribing? This book clarifies these abbreviations and a lot more. A helpful book for anybody in the medical field.

This is a great resource for anyone in the medical field i.e clinical research, nursing, pharmacy, administration, anywhere. We issue this to employees in our company and it is highly sought after. Having previously purchased Editions 7, 8 & 9, we think Edition 10 is extremely useful.

I am a nursing student, and this book has saved me many times during clinicals, especially when reading the physician's progress notes in patient's charts. Almost every abbreviation I have seen in the hospital setting is listed in this book. It also has normal lab values in the back and a section that cross-references the brand vs. generic names of many drugs. The pocket size makes it easy to carry around as well, unlike some other reference books.

Quality, accurate medical reference tool. If you only buy one reference book, this should be it. Information is accurate, up to date, easy to find, and indispensable to anyone in the medical field, especially nurses, transcriptionists and dictators. EVERY MEDICAL STUDENT MUST HAVE THIS BOOK! EVERY MEDICAL FACILITY MUST HAVE THIS BOOK!

Not bad but several major complaints,

This is a pretty good abbreviations dictionary, but after one month of use, the spine separated from the book and the whole thing fell apart. Furthermore, it is very poorly designed and almost impossible to read the type. So even if the information is good, what help is it if you cannot read it or keep it for longer than a month!
