This is an excellent resource! As a medical records coder it is important to understand all of those abbreviations used by physicians. This was a book I always had to have along with my ICD-9-CM and CPT books, and I now recommend it to any new coders that I help train.

I am a medical transcriptionist for a local hospital and use the book regularly and it always has the abbreviation sought for.

Medicine is not an exact science, but it doesn't mean that doctors (and nurses) can make up their own abbreviations or use ones that have three conflicting meanings! I am now able to make them aware how dangerously they are practicing, and the backup source to point it out. Since they now "borrow your book Marylou", transcribing orders is not only safer, but less stressfull as it has cut down on "bogus" abbreviations. Great book,I use it daily!

When I was still in school for medical transcription one of the instructors highly recommended this book. I'm so glad she did as 3 years later it is still one of the most indispensible resources. I have had to add an abbreviation here and there, but that is completely understandable with the differences in medical facilities.

I have bought at least 3 earlier versions of this book. While it can't have every abbreviation, since some doctors are fond of making up their own, it still comes very close. Because I work in an acute care hospital reviewing the records for coding purposes, this book is worth every penny. It's hard enough to deal with the proverbial physician scrawl without trying to figure out the latest acronym. I'll share this book with others in the Medial Record department, but I never leave it out of my sight:)

I was a little nervous purchasing books on-line, but after reading previous reviews from other buyers, I took my chances. I could not believe the impeccable condition of the book purchased. I recommended this to my co-workers and I want to thank the seller and past buyers (on their reviews) for such honesty. Such a pleasure to see this quality still being effective. Thanks.

this book has a great number of abbreviations. Unfortunately, I've already looked up a couple that are not in the book.
