Let me start off by saying that I am new in my studies into Chinese Medicine and that over the past 2 years I have read most of the basics text on TCM. I wanted to read one of the classics, and the first book I decided to read was The Medical Classic of the Yellow Emperor, translated by Veith. It was good read, with info that other translations don't have, but it required quite a lot of work to tie the terminology and concepts back to Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Enter Dr. Zhu Ming's translation of the Medical Classic of the Yellow Emperor, in comparision it was abosultey fantastic. It was easy to read, all the concepts were very easy to tie back to concepts and terminology found in Traditinal Chinese Medicine. The Medical Classic of the Yellow Emperor is a combinaiton of essays, and each essay in Zhu Mings translation was clearly numbered and seperated making it easier to assimilate the information and concepts. What made the translation even better were the lucid commentaries and and annotations that were provided after every article. I agree with the first reviewers thoughts that it would have been great if the author had the original chinese text preceding each translation, but I guess that is what second editions are for.

Dr. Zhu has placed a classic that could only originally be enjoyed by sinologist, within the reach of english speaking, reading TCM students and practioners. Not perfect but in my humble opinion his work is definitely deserving of 5 stars. I highly reccommend this as an addition to your library on Chinese Medicine, it is worth 3X the price! Not sure if Dr. Zhu Ming ever reads the reviews, but just in case - Thank You very much Dr. Zhu, I hope that you will pursue the translation of other classics!

1.0 out of 5 stars Biggest mistake ever, October 21, 2010

Hi all, i usually dont do reviews, i buy a lot of books in amazon all about TCM or TCM related,
when i buy a book usually i have already a very good picture of what im getting and almost never get
disapointed.

We this one i totally droped the ball... i already have a very good translations of the Nei Jing i bougth in China
and just wanted another one for comparison and got this one.. its the worse book i ever bougth (im apolojize to the author) The Neijing witch are 2 books in one, Su wen and Spiritual axis, are two Volumes in the same book each one with 81 chapters (9x9 its a jersey th.. sorry a Chinese thing)

In this dredfull diservice of a book you simply cant tell what chapters are being translated, the author Zhu Ming , CHOPPED the Classic, meaning sometimes he just translated excerpts of the original and on top of insult he mixed the two volumes up meaning you have excerpt of Su wen mingled with the Spiritual Axis excerpt.. A bloody mess to any serious student, accoding to the author this is a scientific organization of a archaic text ... dreadfull.. oh well, everyone makes mistakes, i should have known a two volume classic like this should have never less than 500 600 pages ,this book has 300 on top of that it is not Cheap for a 300 pages book all together my worst amazon buying ever

If anyone wants this book, i will give you my copy for free i only want shipping costs, less im reminded how dumb i was buyng it in the first place. A really good book i got in China of the Neijing is the following: ISBN 7-5046-2231-1 for those you really want a good text to work with.
