Irene Pollin puts forth an excellent discussion of the issues related to chronic illness and its impact on patients and their families. She outlines the clinical issues of helping this population in a succinct and insightful manner speaking from personal and professional experience. Her discussion of the administrative issues involved in creating a medical crisis counseling program are relevant, well-developed, and helpful to the practitioner.
