About the Author

Robert A. Dobie, M.D. is the Director of the Division of Extramural Research at the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. He is also Visiting Professor of Otolaryngology at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and is the past Chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology -- Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He is listed in The Best Doctors in America, is President of the Association for Research in Otolaryngology, and has received numerous honors and awards for his contributions to the medical profession.

More About the Author

Robert A. Dobie, M.D., is an otologist (a physician who limits his practice to problems of the ear and related structures). After undergraduate and medical education at Stanford University, he completed a residency in otolaryngology (ear, nose, and throat) at Stanford, as well as fellowships in auditory physiology (at LSU Medical School) and neurotology (at the University of Zurich). During his career he has received numerous research grants from the National Institutes of Health and other agencies, and served as president of the Association for Research in Otolaryngology. He has served on the boards and councils of many professional organizations and on the editorial boards of several journals. The author of over 175 publications, he is currently clinical professor of otolaryngology at both the University of Texas (San Antonio) and the University of California (Davis). In addition to his clinical practice, research, and teaching duties, Dr. Dobie is a partner in Dobie Associates, offering consultation in hearing, balance, and hearing disorders (www.dobieassociates.net).

This is an excellent book on NIHL. It presents in a clear and easy to understand the essentials for Forensic Audiology.I found the method of allocation especially helpful.The case studies are excellent and well presented. Of the several books on this subject in my library this one ranks as number one.
