Reviews of the last edition

".this book does exactly what it says on the label. It provides an "at-a-glance" summary of pharmacology in 45 easily digested, bite-sized chunks.

.The writing is sharp, terse and unambiguous.

.Any student wanting a concise and accurate overview of pharmacology could do no better than start with this book."

The Pharmaceutical Journal

"I won't beat around the bush: if you are a pre-clinical medical student and you don't already own this book, buy it.

.There isn't really another book out there which can complete with this title.

.The "At a Glance" series has expanded rapidly over the last few years, and this book remains the best of the lot.

.I would strongly urge you to get this book. There aren't many books out there which I think every student should own. This is one of them."

Review

"This is a good book to have on the shelf, to read as an introduction to get the big picture before tackling a topic in more detail, or as a concise but relatively thorough source of revision." GKT Gazette, Apr/May 2006

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely the "Swan Lake" of medical textbooks, December 28, 2003
By
NerdGirl (California, USA) - See all my reviews
I was recommended this book by a former student of Dr. Neal's and after one perusal, I was hooked. It has since become my favorite medical textbook. It is so elegant and enjoyable to read that it is hardly like studying at all. The diagrams are particularly impressive, with each consolidating the equivalent of many wordy pages in the average pharmacology textbook. It is perfect when taking a medical pharmacology course, to be read "first and last" for each topic. If you're a visual learner, this one's for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have for medical student!, June 24, 2005

Every piece of information "Medical Pharmacology at a Glance" gives you is vital. It figures out the big problems most students face when studying pharmacology:

Which of this huge amount of data is really important? Which concepts I must never forget?.

The book is very concise, but believe it or not, at the same time is much more understandable than many other extense texts.Besides, diagrams definitely allow you to get a much more integrated view of every topic.

What is more, this text is great for reviewing the subject, it's amazing how many essential drugs it covers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome pharm book, January 23, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I never write reviews, but this book was great enough for me to write one. This is one pharmacology book that is nice and sweet. Gives enough detail for us to understand the pharmacokinetics without overwhelming someone with detail. The only thing must be aware of is that book is British, and has British spelling ex. oedema instead of edema or neurones instead of neurons. Some drug names may be slightly different as well. Otherwise, I highly recommend this as a basic pharmacology book.
