not worth it,
By mmockovak@arisvision.com (Sacramento, Ca) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Medical School Admissions: The Insider's Guide (Paperback)
The book contains 50 personal statements and not much else. The personal statements were not relevant to me or my friends. I did buy this book and others. I think the best ones were Insider's guide to med school admissions by Toyos and Princeton Review. Read this one in a bookstore and you will see it is not worth it.

very honest... I loved it...,

I thought this book is by far the best and most honest review of medical school admissions. It also has great tips on how to do well once you have been accepted.

Pretty good book for personal statements BUT,

This review is from: Medical School Admissions: The Insider's Guide (Paperback)
This is a pretty good book as it has 50 personal statements. But, this is most of the book's content and it is also dated. The admissions process is so complicated that you need a more comprehensive work. I have looked at all of the books on getting into medical school and the best one without any question is the Definitive Guide to Medical School Admission by the Goldsteins.

I was disappointed in the book.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Medical School Admissions: The Insider's Guide (Paperback)
Most of the book is personal statements. I think it is fine to write something about the statements, but the admissions process is too complicated and most of the book, in my view, should be devoted to the applications, secondaries, MCAT, picking the right schools, recommendations and interviews. There is a lot on the market. I would check out the other resources.

Useless,
This review is from: Medical School Admissions, 5th Revised Edition (Paperback)
Worthless for med school admission. Here I'll give you all the info in the book: get good grades, do well on mcat, write a good essay. Most of the book is essays from successful applicants. Wouldn't recommend copying one for yourself so I can't see the reason for them being in there.

best book available,

This review is from: Medical School Admissions: The Insider's Guide (Paperback)
This is by far the best book available on how to play the med school admissions game. The authors are recent med school graduates, so their tone is both frank and realistic. The section with 50 successful application essays is alone worth the price of the book.

An excellent guide,

Well-written, concise, and not condescending like so many of the books written by admissions department people. The 50 essays are alone worth the price.

Very helpful,

I thought the information about the interview was great. The fifty essays really give you an idea of what admissions officers and other staff are looking for. Though this book offers great advice you should look at other sources.

Okay book but only a review!!!!,
This review is from: Medical School Admissions, 5th Revised Edition (Paperback)
I purchased this book & another book I found online, which was recommended by many amazon reviews. This book is a overview of medical school admissions, stuff I sorta knew. The other book found at secretroutedotcom is insane. It has actual loopholes which one can use while applying.
