2.0 out of 5 stars Meh, slightly useful but buy the MSAR instead, August 14, 2011

The Best 168 Medical Schools book was not that useful to me. I had the same year's MSAR (Medical School Admission Requirements) and the MSAR was 10x more useful in terms of information and browsing. I am not kidding, save yourself time and money and just get the MSAR instead. The Best 168 Medical Schools book simply doesn't have enough information in it to justify buying it. Some of the schools listed in it have the MCAT/GPA scores and tuition costs and others do not. Ummm, talk about incomplete. The MSAR has all information for every single school, not just 168, and it also has more information that pre-med students should be looking at, even if they don't know it yet. For example, residency matches, out of state accepted percentages, etc... MSAR--> [...]

This book gave not only insight to the different Med Schools around the country, but it also informed me of all the different types of Medicine and asked questions to make me think about whether or not Medicine was the right career path for me. It also gave great sample questions of what to think about for a Med School interview!

My son is considering going to medical school. I was very curious about what that would entail. I wondered what was required to be admitted, how long it takes, how much it cost, how many go to medical school, why do students decide to go to medical school and where are the medical schools located? This book answered all my questions and many more. It is a wealth of information and has really helped me discuss with my son all of the possibilities.
