4.0 out of 5 stars Not so Terrible!
I would have to disagree. This book may seem dry at first, but it does have a wealth of information. It is very to the point and doesn't run around in circles. It may lack information in some chapters only because it was already covered in earlier chapters. So reading it straight through is the best way to learn. I've enjoyed it. 3.0 out of 5 stars terrible pathophysiology behind diseases
The cd that goes along with this book is great and has wonderful study tools and a full audio glossary. Everything is presented in clear and concise information. The main downside for me was the way the pathophysiology of the diseases were written out. The majority of them are listed in almost a Webster's dictionary type definition format. A patho is not the "what" of a...

4.0 out of 5 stars A softer version of Lewis..., March 7, 2009
This review is from: Medical-Surgical Nursing: Critical Thinking for Collaborative Care (2 Volume Set, plus Study Guide) (Hardcover)
I would also have to disagree with "An Avid fan" as well...I felt Iggy was an easy read and much more organized than Brunner, which i felt was all over the place. Im am actually using Lewis as my primary source and neither can touch it in terms of "indepthness." But talk about dry, Lewis is not a "fun" read. Iggy however, is a much more enjoyable read. Im not sure if im sold on all the tables and graphs however. I love tables but some seem unnecessary or distracting. I do think the way it presents Nursing diagnoses is comparable if not superior to Lewis, and definitely better than Brunner. I haven't read the clinical companion guide for Iggy yet. I have the Lewis clinical guide and from what i've seen from Brunner, Lewis has a bit more info.

3.0 out of 5 stars terrible pathophysiology behind diseases, February 20, 2009
This review is from: Medical-Surgical Nursing: Critical Thinking for Collaborative Care (2 Volume Set, plus Study Guide) (Hardcover)
The cd that goes along with this book is great and has wonderful study tools and a full audio glossary. Everything is presented in clear and concise information. The main downside for me was the way the pathophysiology of the diseases were written out. The majority of them are listed in almost a Webster's dictionary type definition format. A patho is not the "what" of a disease," but the "why." Why do the cells do what they do to result in a particular disease? Why does a particular medication manipulate a cell in a way to reverse the disease process occurring? I learned more about patho behind diseases through my own research online to complete my clinical paperwork than I did from this book. Long story short, good concise information, but not for someone who is the type of learner that needs to see how things work out from step one.

Great book. Loads of information. A little difficult to read, but just because it is long. Enjoy - great for the nursing student!

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible Med-surg book., August 14, 2008
This review is from: Medical-Surgical Nursing: Critical Thinking for Collaborative Care (2 Volume Set, plus Study Guide) (Hardcover)
Assigned this book for nursing school, my classmates and I found it boring, dry and an extremely difficult read. I ended up purchasing the Brunner and Suddarth textbook instead and quickly sold back the Iggy text. No regrets!
