5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good
I was not expecting this book to be so helpful. This book breaks down medical terms into root words. This means that as long as you know the root, you will be able to understand new medical terms (even if they are not in the book!). I was surprised how much I learned from this book. It has excellent coverage of all fields of medicine. The book has flashcards, but the real...

3.0 out of 5 stars Medical Terminology
This book was in fairly good shape. This the first book that I have purchased online. I really didn't know if I was doing it properly. The only problem with the book was that the identification cards in the back were gone and I did not realize this when I purchased the book. I just went ahead and made my own cards up for this course. I don't know if the book stated no...

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good, January 25, 2007
I was not expecting this book to be so helpful. This book breaks down medical terms into root words. This means that as long as you know the root, you will be able to understand new medical terms (even if they are not in the book!). I was surprised how much I learned from this book. It has excellent coverage of all fields of medicine. The book has flashcards, but the real strength is the practice exercises. I sometimes refer back to the book (instead of a dictionary) because it tells you why the word is used. This book is good for anyone wanting to learn some medical terminology on their own. The chapters are manageable; I was able to work through all of the exercises in a month.

4.0 out of 5 stars 1st Time Taking a Medical Terminology Class, September 20, 2008
This review is from: Medical Terminology: A Programmed Learning Approach to the Language of Health Care (Paperback)
This book is excellent for anyone not familiar with medical terminology class. The book includes a CD and flashcard in the back. I feel knowledgeable after reading the Chapter 1. It is worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good and Straight-Forward, January 15, 2012

This is a good book for an introductory level course/self-study program. It breaks down the terminology by body system (one body system per chapter), so you know what parts of the body to relate the terms to as you progress through the book. This book is nicely organized, easy to follow, and easy to understand. It is extremely helpful if you are entering the medical field. It has flashcards in the back of the book that help you test yourself, but they are not indispensable. You could make them yourself. It is by far one of the best introductory texts available.

This book is awesome!!! I loved how easy it made learning medical terminology. I used this book myself before starting nursing school and what a difference it made. By using this book I was able to understand various medical diagnoses before actually learning about them because of the prefixes, root words etc. I would get this book for anyone entering the medical field. It is a lifesaver.

It was worth making my own cards up for the difference.
