More About the Author

Osho, known for his revolutionary contribution to the science of inner transformation, continues to inspire millions of people worldwide in their search to define a new approach to individual spirituality that is self-directed and responsive to the everyday challenges of contemporary life. The Sunday Times of London named him one of the '1,000 Makers of the Twentieth Century,' and novelist Tom Robbins called him 'the most dangerous man since Jesus Christ.' For more information about Osho and his work, please visit osho.com.

Osho's teachings defy categorization, covering everything from the individual quest for meaning to the most urgent social and political issues facing individuals and society today.

His unique "Osho Active Meditations" are designed to first release the accumulated stresses of body and mind, so that it is easier to experience the thought-free and relaxed state of meditation. (Meditation -The First and Last Freedom, by Osho)

About his own work Osho has said that he is helping to create the conditions for the birth of a new kind of human being. He has often characterized this new human being as "Zorba the Buddha" -- capable both of enjoying the earthy pleasures of a Zorba the Greek and the silent serenity of a Gautam Buddha.

Running like a thread through all aspects of Osho's work is a vision that encompasses both the timeless wisdom of the East and the highest potential of Western science and technology.

Osho has been described by the Sunday Times in London as one of the "1000 Makers of the 20th Century" and by American author Tom Robbins as "the most dangerous man since Jesus Christ."

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply the best book there is on this topic., June 24, 1996
By A Customer
This review is from: From Medication to Meditation (Paperback)

The title, "From Medication to Meditation," exactly pinpoints the current movement towards combining the Western science of the outer--conventional medical science--with the Eastern science of the inner, meditation.

Rather than the usual "turf battles" that plague this field, here we have a truly rounded view which supports the intelligent use of the most appropriate modality for every situation.

It includes fascinating insights into the current emergence of new diseases, including AIDS, the limitations of Western psychology and "therapy" in general; and chapters on euthansia, living and dying, the mind as a disease-creating mechanism, over-eating, pain, massage, the role of the healer...in fact every topical health issue is covered.

And how to be healthy.

As a physician, I can only say that if everybody read -- and understood -- this book, the cost of sickness to us all, in dollars and pain, would be dramatically reduced.

3.0 out of 5 stars very good but a little wordy, March 8, 2008
This review is from: From Medication to Meditation (Paperback)
In many, many cases meditation could replace drugging and - although I do not take any drugs - I expected a more practical, concise, approach. I like Osho, an his unconventional ways, but really less is more! Truths are being drowned in unnecessary words here and it takes some patience to pick them up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stress Reduction, February 16, 1998
This review is from: From Medication to Meditation (Paperback)
Just think of the millions and millions of dollars the world is spending to create chemicals, medicine for relaxation. Seems to be one of the most important things for people in these days. This book shows no-chemical ways to reduce stress and bring people back to a natural state of relaxation, which we have almost forgotten about.
