I Am Sore,

This review is from: Medicine Ball Training: A Complete Book of Medicine Ball Exercises for Coaches of All Sports (Paperback)
I'm having trouble just typing these words. Every part of my body aches. Yeah the stick figures are pretty stark in our Simpson's world. And true, the lack of wordy descriptions on the exercises make it a little difficult to understand at the beggining. But if you take a good long look and apply only a few of the exercises in the book, it will kick your (...) . There are hundreds of exercises in this little book. Obviously, the weight of the ball makes a big difference but these exercises hit every muscle in your body. I like this book a lot and really enjoy the medicine ball workouts.

Stick Figures,
By Eric Swannie (Longwood, FL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Medicine Ball Training: A Complete Book of Medicine Ball Exercises for Coaches of All Sports (Paperback)
All of the exercises are explained with stick figures and a short description. I would have prefered better illustrations with this short description, or a more detailed description of stick figures. As it is now, this book takes some work to try and decipher. It might be difficult to get a handle on how an exercise is supposed to be performed, especially if you don't have experience in medicine ball training. If you take the time to break the code, there are some different exercises that are fresh and interesting. So, even though there are problems with the illustrations, the content of the book is pretty good. The book contains four catagories of exercise: 1. General warm-up exercises 2. Strength development exercises 3. Throwing exercises 4. Competitions, relays, and games. (my favorite part) The book is comprehensive, but the authors leave the exercise prescription to you. This book acts like a glossary of medicine ball exercises, and that may or may not serve you well. I would only suggest this book to someone with knowledge about proper utilization of a plyometric and sport-specific program. I'll give this book 4 stars [3.75 :-)] because there are some innovative ideas and I think content is more important than anything else. Eric Swannie, MA, ATC, CSCS
