Book Description

March 1, 2007 Silhouette Special Large Print (Book 1815)
He was about to go to a war zone. He couldn't get involved with a woman now.

She was in a battle for custody of her son. She couldn't risk a new romance.

He was half Navajo; he embraced the spiritual wisdom of his ancestors.

She knew nothing about his traditions.

And both Will Baron's and Arley Meehan's big, protective, opinionated families opposed the two of them being together.

If they were smart, they'd walk away from each other fast. If they followed their hearts, who knew what might happen—.

5.0 out of 5 stars WHAT A GREAT COMING TOGETHER OF A FAMILY, May 13, 2007
By
M. Hartmann "abayyan" (Milan, Michigan United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Will Baron is the character that brings together his family, through Sloan Baron the female lead from ONE OF OUR OWN "Family Blessings"#1 [he was three years old]

He is in the paratroopers at Fort Bragg. He ends up meeting Arley Meehan, sister to Kate Meehan of #1445 THE OLDER WOMAN, and Arley's son, Scotty.

This is not good. She is just out of a divorce and he is waiting to be sent to the war zone. And Arley's ex is looking for a reason to take his son away.

Patrick Baron shows up, surprising his younger half-brother, Will. In the end Patrick wants Will to sing "the Blessing" of the Navajo People for him. Both seem to have lost their way [or inner peace].

Patrick tells Will to go see the family home, still belonging to Sloan, she is now married to Lucas Singer.

Mrs. Bee plays a great part in helping Arley and also joins Arley in a bar, along with Arley's sisters. What a hoot.

Look for #901 - One of Our Own - #2 1039 - Meggie's Baby - #3 1122 - Mother To Be - #4 1147 - Tenderly - then is Kate Meehan's story in 1445.

This is a great set of Books - Definitely Recommended - you will enjoy if you like the Native Indian stories.

2.0 out of 5 stars Unnecessary Wrap-Up., January 17, 2011
By
MEDICINE MAN is Book 5 in Cheryl Reavis' Navajo Family Blessings series and Book 4 in Reavis' Fort Bragg series. Obliviously, MEDICINE MAN is a wrap-up book to terminate loose ends.

MEDICINE MAN original Release Date- March 2007

From the Back Cover-

He was about to go to a war zone. He couldn't get involved with a woman now.

She was in a battle for custody of her son. She couldn't risk a new romance.

He was half Navajo; he embraced the spiritual wisdom of his ancestors.

She knew nothing about his traditions.

And both Will Baron's and Arley Meehan's big, protective, opinionated families opposed the two of them being together.

If they were smart, they'd walk away from each other fast. If they followed their hearts, who knew what might happen.

My Review-

Sigh, reading the back cover should have been my clue -- large spacing and lines of curt description. But no I bought this! Why? Because I always wondered what became of Will Barron from the Navajo Family Blessings series and Arley Meehan from the Fort Bragg series. Just kidding! I bought this book because I like Cheryl Reavis as an author. Unfortunately . . .! MEDICINE MAN has no energy. Will Barron and Arley Meehan have no romance. And the reader has no fun. MEDICINE MAN is a story of chunks and bits and pieces and screams: half-hearted WARP-UP.

Rating: D+

Sensuality: Luke-warm

It's been long enough since I read the stories of some of the characters in this book that I had forgotten who was who (whom?), but that didn't make them or the story any less fun to read.
