Book Description

November 15, 2004
When the Williard brothers get going, any resemblance to a real war is purely coincidental! Sgt. James Williard uses his position as the hauncho of a medical dispensary in Vietnam as a base, while he and his crazy medics turn the war zone into a party zone. Williard's two brothers, Jerry, a naval ensign and Jason (Jumpin' Jase) the Marine fighter pilot who regualrly loses 15 million dollar planes join the fun and then it is like no war ever recorded. Wilder than M*A*S*H, a hilarious romp.

About the Author

Darrell Bain is the author of more than three dozen books, in many genres, running the gamut from humor to mystery and science fiction to humorous non-fiction. For the last several years he has concentrated on humor and science fiction, both short fiction, and suspense thrillers.

Darrell served thirteen years in the military as a medic and his two years in Vietnam formed the basis for his first published novel, Medics Wild. Darrell has been writing off and on all his life but really got serious about it only after the advent of computers. He purchased his first one in 1989 and has been writing furiously ever since.

While Darrell was working as a lab manager at a hospital in Texas, he met his wife Betty. He trapped her under a mistletoe sprig and they were married a year later. Darrell and Betty owned and operated a Christmas tree farm in East Texas for many years. It became the subject and backdrop for some of his humorous stories and books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Back to Veitnam again, May 8, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
It was a very good book it brought back some memories of the times that i was there and of the places also. Although I didn't have the fun that the character and his brothers had. I did spend a week with my Uncle when he came through on his way home. I left a two weeks later for home. I thought that it was good for someone to take their experience's and make them into a very funny and interesting book. I liked it very much.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hold onto your hat!, December 20, 2005

This review is from: Medics Wild (Paperback)
If you served in Viet Nam you'll recognize the places, people and probably most of the events in this novel. It brings back memories in a way that lets us ease through with a big dose of laughter. Bain puts a lot of himself into his writing, and obviously he was there. A special treat for vets but recommended for anybody who likes good writing, strong images and a wild ride.
