4.0 out of 5 stars Useful Golf Swing Aid
Useful Golf Swing Aid
It works in my garage - helps me focus on a full body swing and helps me de-emphasize the ball-striking impulse and arms only swings.

3.0 out of 5 stars Very interesting and useful training tool, but...
This is a great idea - you can immediately understand the concept and what this club is trying to do on the very first swing. I've been swinging it for 10-15 minutes every few days in the back yard. Do I think this will make a large impact on my game? Hard to say. Two thing hamper this from being a superb training tool.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Golf Training Aid, August 17, 2009

I have used the medicus off and on for years. I find that when I get into trouble and can't hit my irons right, practicing with the medicus greatly improves my swing. I have also given them as gifts to family members who golf.
I wouldn't take the time to type this review if I honestly didn't believe in this product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy direct from Medicus, they are a well oiled marketing machine and they will bill you monthly for things you didnt buy., December 15, 2011
I'm not writing about a specific Medicus product, because as a golfer that's an personal thing of whether the product works for you or not. My issue is the Company behind the products, I got suckered into the 30day free trial back in August on the Topspin putter(which wasn't very good by the way) and here it is 12-15-11 and I'm still getting charged for 3 items that I never even new I bought. And don't even bother calling the company because all they try to do is to get you to buy more crap, sir sir do you own a "driver" well um yeah, well we have a special on ours, NO. sir sir do you own a 5 iron, I'm like really.

I always believed that they had a reputable name in the golf community, but now I see how they really operate.

Bottom line is that I would never buy direct from them, I would just the local pro shop's.

1. It's EXTREMELY heavy. It is not like swining a real club at all. Might be equivalent in weight to 3 clubs in your hands at once.
2. It's very short! As a 7 iron this is noticeably shorter than a standard. You really have to dig do to make contact with a ball (if you want to actually hit with it).

Overall I give it a 3/5

I am a skier in the winter and don't start playing golf until March. I bought this device in the winter and it helped me play my first round in March. I shot a 78 after a bogey and double bogey on the first to holes. It helped me forget all my bad habits.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good product, depending on your swing flaws, May 13, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a solid training aid, assuming that the issues you have with your swing fall in line with what the Medicus addresses. A big area it helps is to build a solid one-piece takeaway. It also helps with casting from the top. Lastly, it can be helpful with evening out tempo, since we all aren't born with a smooth swing like Sam Snead. It doesn't take the place of good instruction, particularly video analysis, but for a simple training aid, it does do a pretty good job. I've found that a few of my swing flaws don't trigger the Medicus to break down, but my takeaway and tempo are generally pretty good. A key is to make sure you're not manipulating the swing unnaturally just to keep the club from breaking at the hinge.

My swing has improved and I'm hitting the ball better. Am I a better golfer? Have my scores improved? Only slightly. There is no replacement for hard work and practice. Golf is a hard game. Period.

Great club. If you have a tendency to swing too fast, this is the practice club for you. You do not have to think about fifty things when you swing it. It will tell you when you are swinging it wrong.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy from Medicus, April 10, 2008

Medicus is a sketchy company. I ordered some products from them about 9 months ago and ended up returning them because I wasn't using them much. All my money was refunded BUT now 9 months later a random $69 charge for "Golf Essentials" has appeared on my card. Currently going through the hassle of working this mess out. Do a web search to learn more about how common this sham is.
