4.0 out of 5 stars Solid but unbalanced hammer - nice display item
This is a strongly put together item. It would be devastating in knightly battle, if the wielder could score a blow. The steel is thick and heavy - consequently the hammer is unbalanced. I believe that actual medieval weapons of this type had smaller heads. The pins that attach the metal parts to the hardwood shaft might loosen or break, given vigorous use. I would...

2.0 out of 5 stars Fail
I bought one of these from BudK. Looked sturdy enough, so I decided to try it out when I was demolishing my bathroom. It broke after about 5 hits vs my old fiberglass shower. If it's called a warhammer yet isn't sturdy enough to be used as a warhammer, then it's not a warhammer. It's a prop - an affectation. Like buying one of those base model Mustangs from back in...

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid but unbalanced hammer - nice display item, September 26, 2005

I would also prefer a top spike.
The small "made in China" etched onto the steel covering the upper shaft somehow detracts from the overall effect.
The price, appearance and solidity, however, are excellent.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Freakin LOVE this thing!, December 23, 2008
This review is from: Medieval War Hammer Armor Piercing Weapon (Misc.)
I LOVE this warhammer! I tok it straight out of the box and went onto my driveway where we have about 3 inch thick sheets of ice and started whackin away. This hammer destroyed the ice in a matter of seconds and EVEN DENTED MY PAVEMENT! and the best part of it all, NO MARKS!! This hammer looks beautiful, feels very sturdy, and I can't wait to test it out against some real metal!

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting Piece, June 21, 2008

I have to say that this piece is definitely an awesome wall-hanger. Thats what I bought it for anyways. I'm obviously not bashing people's skulls in like this weapon was meant for, but it came in a short period of time, was not damaged in the slightest, and seems to be very sturdy. There is a Made In China engraved on the metal, which makes it a little less appealing, but if you hang that side towards the wall, it looks fine. Good for the cheap price.

4.0 out of 5 stars nice hammer, August 17, 2009

I just received my hammer today, great shipping and price. The head is a very good quality, the best i have seen on many reproductions. Made in china engraving on the metal side support isn't very large or noticeable to me. One thing though, the pins holding head to haft are not on very tight. Love the hammer, happy with the price. I've been looking for an all metal hammer, but so far everything I've found doesn't have a quality head like this one. Sharp pick and bottom pommel, would probably pierce armor... once. All in all a good find.

5.0 out of 5 stars Budget, not battle ready, but then why would I need that?, March 6, 2009
This review is from: Medieval War Hammer Armor Piercing Weapon (Misc.)
I ordered this item based on the strong reviews on Amazon.. I'm pleased with the price, and although it isn't battle ready, I'm not planning on taking on any armored knights this weekend, either.. It will do excellent for its intended purposes-- being a nice weapon for something like a Renaissance Faire, or for displaying what medieval weapons were like for my 7th grade students. Sure, it isn't balanced right, but these were primarily wielded two handed or by guys who could crush the bones in your wrist with just their grip..

For those worried about the "made in China" stamp, it's not engraved or anything-- just printed in black ink.. A very light brush with a 3M red scuff pad in the same direction as the brushed finish took it right off.. I was surprised at how easily it rubbed off, seriously-- So, if you're worried about purchasing this because it might not pass the anachronistic test-- that was easy to remedy. And, for the record, it's labelled stainless.. Cool. For the price, I couldn't argue with the purchase.. It was more economical than the battle ready ones 3-times the cost..

5.0 out of 5 stars Unit Emblem, January 3, 2007
This review is from: Medieval War Hammer Armor Piercing Weapon (Misc.)
I am in the Army and our unit motto is "Hammer Down." I purchased two of these hammers for presentations and was very pleased with the quality. I had one engraved by a local shop and used it as a trophy. I mounted the other in a case and it made a great parting gift for our commanding officer. The only notable flaw is that on one side of the Hammer, on the metal shank, the word "CHINA" is visible. Other than that I was pleased with the product~ to include the packaging and delivery. The price through Amazon was as low as any other site.

4.0 out of 5 stars Don't Hurt Yourself ~grins~, January 22, 2011

This review is from: Medieval War Hammer Armor Piercing Weapon (Misc.)
This Hammer is very nice, it reminds more of an ancient ice axe. The pick awl on this hammer is awesome for piercing heavy armor and helmets, how long will it stand up? I do not know, but I know it causes hemmorraging like a beast, with or without armor ~grins~.

The Bottom of the handle is speared to, so gloves or gauntlets are mandatory ~smiles~, it will also help with the squareness of the hammer itself, which is rather uncomfortable barehanded. It has reinforced stainless on it for blocking and parrying of other weapons, and a cute little "Stainless China" stamped in it, which I AM going to personally engrave a RUNE over it ~chuckles~

It is a definately shield breaker and should be used with care, as only one weapon that I can think of more dangerous than a Warhammer, and that is a Morning Star ~smiles~

5.0 out of 5 stars Zombie Bashing Tool, November 3, 2011

While this is a great Medieval War Hammer it will also work great for fending off zombies. As we are all aware, the zombie apocalypse is coming. But for now I will display it on my wall.

Like buying one of those base model Mustangs from back in the day that only had a sickly V6. Pointless. No offense to those who just wanted something to look at, but I have no enthusiasm for it.
