More About the Author

Beth Banning is a best-selling author, inspirational speaker, and spiritual catalyst who lives in California with her husband, their cat, and their six pound poodle.

She was born in New York City and from a very young age could sense the feelings of people around her, felt kundalini energy running through her body, and experienced other unusual events that she didn't understand. The well-meaning adults in her life told her she was depressed and that these experiences were just her imagination.

Growing up in this cloud of ignorance and disbelief these gifts were buried and unable to flourish and so she was left confused and lonely.

As a young adult she recognized the same sense of confusion and loneliness in others and became passionate about helping people better understand themselves and those around them.

Later in life she took this passion into her work with her husband Neill and co-founded Focused Attention, Inc. She has written numerous books, co-created the Pathway to Personal Freedom, and the Art of Conscious Connection Seminar Series.

After many years of integrating this consciousness shifting work into her own life and teaching it to others, she experienced a profound reconnection with God that turned her life upside down. This radically changed the way she perceives the world and functions in it. Beth now lives her life guided by her inner source of divine wisdom. She is committed to helping others discover this for themselves and fully experience the essence of who they truly are.

Meditation for Beginners is a great guide for anyone wondering why they should meditate, what meditation is and isn't, and to learn about different styles of meditation, so that they can choose a meditation style that best suits them. Clear, well-written, easy to read. I became more relaxed and more meditative just reading the book! I like how simple the author makes everything. If you want a book with great meditation basics, that makes it so easy you know that even you can try meditation, this is the one to get.

I was always one of those impatient types, who preferred to scream at the heavens, "Why ME???" rather than sit cross-legged on the floor and listen to my mind scream at me. Well, at least until I learned a better way. This book is generous in ideas, and the author is generous in spirit. What a great combination!

This little E-book will answer every question a new meditator will have about beginning their practice.
I appreciate its simplicity. It is a fast and easy read and very informative on the history, benefit, and technique of meditation. I loved the variety of practices offered, mantra, visualization, candle, zen buddhist. What a beautiful comprehensive book to get you started to more peace in your life.

In my personal library I have acquired several books over the years about the ancient art and science of meditation. This book is by far the best I have ever read. The reader of this book will learn about the history, the reason for, and the benefits to be garnered from a practice of daily meditation which will bring about an enhanced sense of quality and well being into their life.
This book delivers on its promise of "Five Easy Meditations" filled with the how-to-do techniques for each method described in a way that is simple, easy to understand and apply. This book is a must read for anyone who is considering embarking upon a path that includes a daily meditation practice. Highly recommended by this reader!

Whoa, this was a timely book. For some reason, reading Beth Banning’s description of the religions that use meditation, the different types of meditation and the science behind meditation made me feel motivated to try meditation again. Having just worked all weekend, I think it will really help me feel better. Her common sense attitude combined with examples and scientific results makes it almost a no-brainer to start meditating (no pun intended).

So here's what I did. I searched on YouTube for meditation music, then I used the first technique that Beth recommends in the book (which I have never heard of before, and I'm a psychologist who used to use hypnosis). I wrote a word, in my mind on a piece of paper. Then I felt I was diving with the dolphins in sapphire blue water, looking for my word on the paper. I felt very deeply relaxed, the more I swam around effortlessly. I found the piece of paper and was just starting to read my word clearly when the music ended. I. FEEL. FANTASTIC. I'm going to do this at least once a day. Why did I wait so long?

Title: Really Good Beginners Meditation Book This is a wonderful book for beginners who are learning to meditate. It's clear, easy to read, and gives you everything you need to know in order to get started and find your own meditation groove. I really like all the initial questions this book answers and the simple yet powerful exercises it gives you. The author has a gift for telling you just enough at each step so you can get started and try things out for yourself. There's not a whole lot of ego in this book either just information and clear instructions. It's a pleasure to read a book that just answers my question, gives me what I want quickly and lets me get on with it
