5.0 out of 5 stars Meditation for Kids (and other beings)
This little book is all a person needs to begin the practice of meditation. Clear, concise, practical, easy to use. I wish I could have found it when I first began to learn to meditate. So many meditation books are thick and verbous; all the different approaches can be confusing. I practice Zen (generally minus Buddhism) and this book is "beginner's mind" at...

3.0 out of 5 stars It wasn't what I expected
The book wasn't really what I expected. I knew it was a childrens book but not this extent. I counted around 607 words total in this book on 64 pages. That's about 9.5 words per page. More than half of the book is simply saying that anyone can benefit from meditation. Only about 6 pages were actually giving instructions. I thought this book would pack a little more in...

This little book is all a person needs to begin the practice of meditation. Clear, concise, practical, easy to use. I wish I could have found it when I first began to learn to meditate. So many meditation books are thick and verbous; all the different approaches can be confusing. I practice Zen (generally minus Buddhism) and this book is "beginner's mind" at its best! It has no religious leanings or content. It doesn't talk about anything except "just sitting". The process is very, very clear. I bought this book for my 8 year old son who does some sitting. He related to it and understood it very well. I gave it to a 20 year old who is just beginning to meditate and it helped her to jump-start her practice. I buy up copies to give out to people who show an interest in learning to meditate.

5.0 out of 5 stars Insightful, simple, and profound. A book for kids ages 1-100, August 6, 1997

This review is from: Meditation for Kids: (And Other Beings) (Little Books With Big Ideas) (Paperback)
This is an extraordinary book. It simplifies the beauty of meditation in terms that anyone can understand. It has a delightful touch of humor and a human charm. I highly rate it to everyone from a soul on its first steps to enlightment to an enlightened buddha. This is an amazing little book of truth.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple and Essential, October 4, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Meditation for Kids: (And Other Beings) (Little Books With Big Ideas) (Paperback)
It was pure serendipity when I chanced on this book in the browsing halls of Barnes & Noble. It approached introducing the subject of meditation to kids, with a deft, humorous and knowing touch. The little, irreverent liner notes on page 12 were perfect in terms of striking the right note and grabbing the attention of an 11 and 5 yearold who were interested but certainly not entranced with the subject ( as they are with the brain-numbing substance marketed as 'Pokemon'!) This little book is something one can return to over and over again - the only thing I would add is a little practical two-minute exercise in being still and becoming aware. Please keep doing what you are doing, Ms Fisher Huck. Peace of mind is in our palms but so aften out of our grasp. Thanks for reminding me of that.

What a gift this little book is. Indeed, a little book with big ideas, all simply put. This is THE book for anyone interested in exploring mindfulness meditation. A "Be Here Now" for the new Millenium. Thank you.
