Might be okay for a total beginner...,
By KV Trout (Centerville, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Meditations for Balance & Joy (Audio CD)
But then again, there are better ones, such as Beryl Birch's "Meditations for Everyday Mindfulness". That's just my opinion...
You see, I tried about 12 meditation discs from the library, as I was searching for one to teach my wife how to meditate. I used to meditate so know something about it and was looking for just the right cd to teach my wife, and give myself a refresher course. This is not a bad cd, don't get me wrong. However, she never shuts up for more than a few seconds, and her voice is not as soft as I'd like it to be. The music while not bad, is sometimes intrusive. For these reasons I rate it lower than the Beryl Birch cd. If you really want to learn to meditate, beyond the Beryl Birch cd, I recommend you get Jack Kornfeld's "Meditation for Beginners" book which includes a cd with 6 guided meditations. Jack is a great teacher and his guided meditations give you space to meditate, he doesn't talk through them and there is no annoying music. However, this book + cd seems to be unavailable here at amazon; try your local library. Cyndi Lee's cd is an okay place to start, but as I said, there are better ones. Check my reviews for others. |
