5.0 out of 5 stars was worth the buy
Not only do I adore Sylvia but I am a huge fan of meditating so this cd was so much fun for me. There are about 23 short meditations and a relax technique in the beginning to carry you through all or your select choices of meditations.
I do feel this is more of an informative cd (not so much guided) bc half of the meditations give you a clear visual of where you are...

Buy the book, CD's are not necessary. Sylvia doesn't have the right voice for meditation tapes.

I do feel this is more of an informative cd (not so much guided) bc half of the meditations give you a clear visual of where you are and a basic "this is the purpose of this temple" kind of thing. So it is easy to go back later in your mind and picture that temple so you can take it at your own pace with your own choice of relaxing music or not, depending your favorite meditating styles.
I really enjoy this set and highly recommend it.
cd 1 - relax technique followed by 8 meditations
cd 2 - 7 meditations
cd 3 - 8 meditations

I think these CD's are great. They are very relaxing and provide great visuals for mediation. I purchased this set over a month ago and on numerous occasions I've found myself taking out my other CD's to put these back in because they are so much better. I really enjoy them I hope you do to.

1.0 out of 5 stars Angels and Imps, December 30, 2008
This review is from: Meditations for Entering the Temples on the Other Side (Audio CD)
Let me begin by saying Sylvia Browne is a very gifted woman and has given much to many by way of her admirable work. That said, of the many gifts Sylvia Browne possesses, voice quality is not among them. I eagerly unpacked the CDs from this collection and slapped one into the CD drive, sitting back in my favorite chair, ready for a spiritual adventure that would, hopefully, equal no other. A soft, svelte voice came over the speakers to announce the content of the CD, a tone so sweet and dulcet its owner could only have origin from within the heavens. Relaxing tones of music began to play and swell, setting a mood not unlike goose feathers, warm blankets, and cuddly cherubs: when from the depths of some hellish hole issued the voice of Sylvia Browne, raspy, as if she'd smoked twenty packs of cigarettes a day for the past three hundred and fifty years; pitchy, as if some feverish imp had her by the throat squeezing her life away with its gnarly clawed nails; grating, like course sandpaper on the spine, wearing down each and every nerve along the way until it arrived at a shocked and sorely disappointed soul; ethnic, with an accent reminiscent of the stereotypical Jewish, Brooklyn cadence (although it is my understanding Ms. Browne curiously hails from Missouri); comical, nearly, once understood that the idea was to actually `relax' under these impossible, if not assailing conditions.

If you are a die-hard Sylvia Browne fan and are already familiar with this woman's voice and find some bizarre form of comfort in it, then by all means, get out the charge card and sail on. If, however, you have never heard this woman speak, do yourself a favor and listen to a voice clip online before you decide to make this purchase. One: You won't be eligible for a full return once the package has been opened and, Two: When you're expecting a lullaby and get Maxwell's Silver Hammer instead, it can come as such a horrible shock to the spirit that it could very well take years of therapy to repair the damage.

I enjoy Sylvia Browne's books. Even though I am not sure her descriptions of the afterlife are 100% accurate, in many ways they are close to my own feelings and beliefs about it, and fun to read. I liked the book this CD is based on, and felt that it would be helpful to get the CD so that I could save myself the tedious chore of making my own guided meditation by reading from the book into a recording device (as I have done with other books).

However, I must say I am disappointed in this CD. First of all -- and most importantly -- the people who wrote that Syliva's voice is not conducive to meditation are right on the money, to put it mildly. Her voice is irritating, raspy, and very distracting. I feel like she can hardly get the words out before her breath gives out. Yes, the smoking of 20 packs a day for 350 years, as someone said, sounds accurate! :-) Perhaps one wouldn't mind this voice when attending one of her lectures or watching her on TV, but for a meditation CD I would've thought Sylvia would have the intelligence and humility to choose a professional speaker with a soothing, lovely voice to read her meditations! What happened to setting ego aside, Sylvia?

The second complaint I have about these meditations is the pace. I could put up with the voice if at least the pace was good. It is much too fast to get into any kind of visualization or guided experience of each temple. It's as if she is just reading to you from her book, not guiding a meditation. Someone said this CD is a good way to visualize the temples so you can then do your own meditation to music. Well, you can do that with the book, so why waste money on a meditation CD you can't actually use to meditate?

I wish I could give this more than 3 stars, but the only reason I even gave it that many is b/c I like the idea of the temples and the descriptions of them. I often thought there must be places like this on the Other Side, so it is nice to have descriptions of them, whether or not they really are exactly as described.

I would have to say, though, stick to the book and make your own guided meditation by reading the descriptions at a slower pace with some soothing background music. It's a pain, I know, but it will serve you better than this CD.

Sylvia Browne is a great lady but she should stick to writing her wonderful books. I thought that she had someone with a professional voice do this recording. I never thought that she would ever consider doing it herself.I have tried to meditate using this CD but her voice is not conducive to a peaceful and harmonious experience. This was a big disapointment and it was a waste of my money. In all fairness, I should have checked the CD information and I would have discovered that, yes, as unbelievable as it it, her voice is on the recording. I would have NEVER purchased it had I been more careful.
