Editorial Reviews

From the Inside Flap

"Works of love are always works of joy."

"Do we look at the poor with compassion? They are hungry not only for food, they are hungry to be recognized as human beings."

"There is only one God and He is God to all; therefore it is important that everyone is seen as equal before God."

These rich words of wisdom and conviction are among the pearls of thought found in Meditations from A Simple Path. Comprised of luminous selections culled from the New York Times bestseller, this warm and very loving volume is a joyful celebration of prayer, faith, love, service, and peace.

Profound and uplifting, this elegant book will provide a tremendous source of inspiration for you or someone you love. It is brimming with timeless messages for us all.

About the Author

Born in 1910 in Albania, Mother Teresa went to Loreto Abbey, Rathfarnham, Dublin, in 1928 and from there to India where she began her novitiate. She taught geography in St. Mary's High School in Calcutta from 1929 to 1948 then, in 1950, started her own order, the Missionaries of Charity, to minister exclusively to the poorest of the poor. She has won many awards, including the Nobel Peace Prize, and has founded hundreds of homes throughout the world.

Format: Hardcover
This work typifies the simplicity of the life lead by the

Mother Teresa. The major themes of the volume are as follows:

- The Fruit of Silence is Prayer.

- The Fruit of Prayer is Faith.

- The Fruit of Faith is Love.

- The Fruit of Love is Service.

- the Fruit of Service is Peace.

The layout of the book builds up to peace from the fruit of

silence which is prayer. This is a spiritual rendition by

the author born of modest parents some 95 years ago. It should

be widely read by theologians , philosophers and academicians

everywhere.

This is a wonderful book. The layout allows you to read only a few of the entries or, if inspired, the whole book. As always, what Mother Teresa says is touching and simply profound. The meditations found in this book allow you to witness the beauty of a life of service.

First, the format of this hardbound book interested me. It encourages being in a carry-all or right on top of the coffee table for a quick pick up on a minute's notice. It's meant to be read a little at a time, then given some thought.
Second, what's not to like about this example of caring about being--in her own words--"faithful" rather than successful.
Finally, a reader new to Mother Teresa will enjoy, if nothing else, her "Any way" poem on the back cover. It's inspirational!
