This review is from: The Mediterranean Diet, Origins and Myths (Hardcover)
This book was very intriguing and informative. The authors took a semingly mundane and obscure topic, and made it interesting and practical. It shed light on the significance of food to the Egyptians, Etruscans, Greeks etc. I found it very interesting that theses civilizations were so adament about incorporating food into every aspect and situation of their lives. We in America have been accused of looking for any excuse to celebrate, but these cultures have us beat. Also, it is amazing to think that some of the philosophies, ideologies, and customs that were inherent in the mediterranean cultures, are still embedded in cultures around the world. This was an amazing book. A must own if you appreciate history.

This review is from: The Mediterranean Diet, Origins and Myths (Hardcover)
"...worth owning and reading: the text is valuable, the illustrations are magnificent, and the production overall is excellent. The Mediterranean Diet will enrich the library of any educated person, not only those with medical backgrounds or Mediterranean roots...The book presents the health effects of diet with a simplicity that does not seriously compromise scientific accuracy, and it treats the various Mediterranean cultures with respect..."
