Worthless,
By Mark Hunt (mchunt@cambarsoft.com) (Charleston, SC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mediterranean Mosaic Designs (International Design Library) (Paperback)
This is a collection of black and white drawings most seem to be mosaics others are paintings or stained glass. The reader doesn't get any feeling for shading or texture. This might make a good coloring book for grade schoolers but if you are looking examples to inspire you, get an encyclopedia.

Difficult book of design.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Mediterranean Mosaic Designs (International Design Library) (Paperback)
This is an extremely difficult book of design. All the designs are in solid black lines with the means for arriving at the pattern in broken lines. You would have to be a math genious to follow the path and go blind in the process.

Not impressed,

Not at all impressed with a carelessly put together book. Money is better spent elsewhere.

I have used the various designs out of this book for years in my sixth grade classroom. We use them to construct paper mosaics during either our Classical Greece or Roman Empire units. The book could be larger and the patterns are difficult for children to enlarge. If more of the patterns chosen were not done freehand it would be easier to use. On the other hand, most real mosaic is done freehand so a set of purely grid pattern designs would be less authentic. Its a good tool.
