Much better than most of today's contemporary TV programs, this series has depth of character and it does not lose momentum through the season.

The first DVD contains the conclusion to the cliffhangers from the first season. Some of the characters in the pilot to make it into the regular episodes. This package even has a fun though maybe distracting to some 3-D. I got out my glasses and ooohd and aaahd.

Great formula as Allison Dubois (Patricia Arquette) who has a gift since childhood of talking to the dead and getting physique vibes. She diagnoses or misdiagnoses crime scenes for a local district attorneys office. As her child puts it she is a "guesser." Natural they are the skeptics with negative attitudes to overcome and obscure mental images to be interpreted. She must also do this while balancing housework, kids, and a husband that can be snot at times. There is usually a quirky twist in the end of each episode.

Bottom line is that you can get hooked on the series and will feel cheated when you run out of episodes. It is interesting that they spread the abilities around in the family instead of keeping just to Allison.

I've read all of Allison Dubois wonderful books, and I feel that she is a person to admire. The show, Medium, is one of the most compelling and well-done dramas on television.

Ordinarily, television shows are not much more than background entertainment for me. The TV is on while I am engaged in numerous other projects. However, Medium is a show that requires my full attention. The acting and writing is splendid, and I love the presentation of Allison Dubois life in a very non-sensational yet totally riveting manner.

For me, watching Medium on TV is not enough, because so many of the shows are meaningful. Therefore, purchasing every season of the show is a necessity. If you're a fan, I recommend that you do the same!

When I opened season 1 I discovered disc 5 was broken. Since I already threw away my receipt guess I don't have any recourse. Make sure you open all the dvd's make sure their not broken BEFORE you throw away your receipt.

This show is about a women who solves crimes through premonitions, dreams, and conversations with dead people. She starts out as a paralegal, law student, but feels that here ability gives her a unfair advantage, so she uses her ability to help the police solve crimes. But the show also has strong character interaction. Patricia Arquette and Jake Weber, who plays her husband on the show, work well as a team, on the show they pretray a strong marriage, they have a relationship that you rarely see on dramas. they way they work together to overcome daily hardships will have you rooting for them, and wanting to watch to make sure that they come out alright. Their three daughters on the show, played by Sofia Vassilieva,Maria Lark, and Miranda Carabello, also add an element to the show that gives it a little something extra. Sometimes the girls also have dreams and feelings that they have to learn to handle. And though sometimes the girls acting leaves something to be desired, it is usually easy to get past, and they add entertainment to the show. The family dynamics is what makes the show truely special. The secondary characters, the DA, Miguel Sandoval, and the detective, David Cubittthat, are excellent characters that make it even more watchable. You will like this show if you like dramas such as law and order, CSI, Criminal Intent, but the family relationships in this show is truly unique, and makes it very watchable.
