5.0 out of 5 stars Medline Aluminum Forearm Crutches (B00083DFOW)
I've tried several alternatives following a recent leg injury. A cane is too unstable to support much weight and full crutches are simply too cumbersome. These forearm crutches are the perfect solution. Indeed, a single one, used much like a cane, provides all the support I need. 3.0 out of 5 stars They are big!
These have to be the sturdiest forearm crutches I have ever seen. They have very strong nuts and bolts. To me, being 5'1, they seem quite tall. They also seem heavy. I wish they were a lighter weight. the hand grips, while being quite big enough for someone with arthritis seem big for someone with small hands. I think this crutch was made for a quite larger person than...

I've tried several alternatives following a recent leg injury. A cane is too unstable to support much weight and full crutches are simply too cumbersome. These forearm crutches are the perfect solution. Indeed, a single one, used much like a cane, provides all the support I need. It provides more balance and stability than a cane, yet takes enough weight off my leg to eliminate pain while walking.

These crutches are well built. The frames are thick and highly polished. In fact, they truly look and feel far more like stainless steel than aluminum. On each crutch, the length from floor to hand grip is fully adjustable using a series of holes with spring loaded locking pins. The length above the grip to the forearm brace/cuff is adjustable in the same manner. Rotating locking nuts above and below the adjustable sections eliminate any noise during use, and provides an even more solid feel overall. There is no play in the hand grip, the forearm brace/cuff is well padded, and the rubber foot offers reliable traction.

I would prefer more padding on the handgrip, perhaps a softer rubber instead of hard vinyl. The handgrips are not really uncomfortable. Instead, it would be more accurate to say the handgrips are not as comfortable as they could be. However, there is little doubt these vinyl grips will last much longer than soft rubber ones.

Overall, I'm very satisfied with this purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Deal, January 17, 2006

I just received my crutches yesterday. I was skeptical of the quality of them at such a low price. I'm very happy with them. They are comprable to the pair I'm using now, which I paid much more for. Mine get a lot of use (and abuse). I can't walk without them due to a chronic progressive disease, so I need good quality. My current ones have been through a lot, and these make perfect replacements.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent product for a very good price, November 27, 2008
I ordered this crutch for when my (broken and never quite recovered) knee is too sore but I happened to have some minor foot surgery only days after I received it and I found myself trying it out right away, even if my knee was fine.
The crutch is surprisingly light and easy to use and adjust. Every detail of it is carefully made.
I have used it for stairs, walks or just around the house and I couldn't recommend it enough!

I used these after major knee surgery and was on cruthes for 2 months. These are very well built and exceeded my expectations. These are far superior to standard crutches.

I had polio when I was young and have used crutches for more than 40 years. I've used these for about a year and had no problems. I used to use Guardian but bought their Prestige series a couple years ago and they were awful--and cost more then double the cost of these crutches. (On the Guardians, the cuffs broke after only a few months.)

I have had these for about six months, and they are falling apart. Where the arm cuff attaches the bolt holes have become so elongated they let the cuff flop around like a limp rag. The rubber tips wore out after only a few weeks, I replaced them with Tornado tips. The new tips are the only thing that is really good about my crutches. I don't walk a lot. I can only imagine what condition they would be in if I did walk a lot!

These crutches help me immensely in walking, especially with the balance part. They not only help keep me upright, but greatly help with the joint pains associated with walking and standing.

4.0 out of 5 stars better than than underarm crutches, January 7, 2010

I used tis type in europe and like them so much better than the underarm crutches. The handles are a bit hard on the hands, but I wasn't using them a great deal each day. I liked them.

These are well made and sturdy. Equal or better than the ones at the Med Supply store for twice the price. Thanks.
