These are the same 4x4 gauze pads that I have been given in outpatient treatment. They are a good quality cotton wound dressing. If you aren't sure what 8 ply might look like it is thinner than you might think, this isn't meant to be a sponge, I know for me they require layering to get the effect I need. Loosely woven for breath-ability, I would order these again.
