Doesn't seat well to toilet,
By Yeolla "Yeolla" (Calif) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Medline Locking Elevated Toilet Seat with Arms (Health and Beauty)
I sure hope all who read this is somehow helped by my comments. This purchased marked a new path in my world. Elder care. There isn't much information or reviews available on items like these.
Installation and assembly were pretty easy. No tools needed. I liked the fact it had arms to assist when getting up or down. Yet if one doesn't apply equal pressure to both sides this baby will tilt and land your love one right on to the floor. Would not order this feature again. In my opinion it doesn't fasten tight enough on to the toilet seat. I tried with and without the toilet lid attached did not lessen the amount of play side to side. What it has is a clamp that you screw down and it will clip on to the front edge of bottom of toilet rim. This is the only attachment point. If someone sits down close to the front the rear will pop up out of place. Not a good thing! On the plus side, it is easy to clean. Raises one up about 5 inches off the floor so its less of a distance to sit down to. Yet if you are 5 ft or shorter you will not be able to touch the floor with the bottoms of your feet. It is wide and comfortable. Has a depression in the front to allow for ease in self clean up. How about it? IS there anyone out there who would like to design an better elevated toilet seat? Sure hope so!

Arise with Ease.,

When you are lucky enough to be older than 90, it is a pure joy to find a "seat of ease" high enough so it is easy to get out of.
Relatively easy to assemble. You will need a mallet or hammer and block of wood to get the arms in, but it is easy to put on the toilet and take off for cleaning.. You MUST keep your weight on both arms when sitting down or getting up or the seat will twist off.

Twice while standing I leaned on one handle of this unit and this caused the toilet seat to release from the toilet. It's not save to hold onto lightly while getting out of shower. It's so wide it crowds the opening of the shower.

Great product for the price.....,

I have absolutely no regrets about buying this toilet seat. My husband had a total hip replacement operation and it is quite useful. The height makes it very comfortable for him and the arms are quite secure. It is very easy to clean and I like the fact that it locks in place for more safety....

Beware...Dangerous Side Tilt !!!,
By
This review is from: Medline Locking Elevated Toilet Seat with Arms (Health and Beauty)
I purchased one of these seats and installed it for my mom who has left side weakness due to a stroke. I really was impressed by the overall construction and the installation was quick and easy, but after one quick testing I found that the seat tilts sideways if uneven pressure is applied when sitting or rising using the handles. Medline even states on their instructions that uneven pressure could cause a tilt and there are no braces on the sides to stop this tilting. This could be very dangerous for someone who has weakness on one side as they will naturally use the other side to compensate for this weakness. I don't know if the company has other similar products with side brackets but why they would release this one without indicating the potential danger on the box...well I guess we all really know why. If you were needing this seat just because of my size or some other reason than for an elderly person with weakness on one side then I would highly recommend this product, but if this is for an elderly person with weakness on one side...don't risk there life and limb, it's not worth it, stay with a standard four legged toilet seat adapter...PLEASE!

I had hip replacement surgery and it was necessary to have a raised toilet seat installed at home. After raising toilet lid/seat, it was very easy to install this item. HINT: Take a toilet lid cover and put over the raised lid/seat--makes it very comfy. This seat is excellent and very sturdy. I would recommend it to anyone needing for that purpose!
When cleaning, make sure you are able to rinse it thoroughly. I kept detecting a 'smell' - when I removed it and shook it, water somehow was inside of it!

I bought this seat for my elderly mother to use. I had to remove the toilet seat to make it fit. At first it clamped to the toilet bowl, with a little movement. After about a week, it stopped clamping securely to the bowl, and tipped when she used the handle for support. After trying to relock it numerous times, I had to stop using it. I would not buy it again.

I bought this for my 91 year old mother-in-law when she comes to visit us and she really benefited from using it. Now my wife is using it regularly because she says it's so convenient. We have not had any negative experiences with this product. The key is to follow the mounting directions carefully and make sure it is properly mounted. I recommend this product because it amply serves the purpose for which it was designed.

I've used it for a couple of weeks now after total hip surgery and it's worked very well for me. You must use both handles at the same time when lifting and lowering yourself to avoid tipping the unit, but used properly, it works well.

Not bad if you need one,

The toilet seat is not bad if you really need one. You probably have to clean it every time you use it. Watch out for the depth of the existing toilet rim because the notch in the back of the toilet seat that fits under the toilet rim only takes rims that are something like 1 3/4" or less. Mine was 2+inches and, while you can clamp the front of the seat, it was not really stable. The ad doesn't mention this limitation. I am now looking at the product that raises the existing toilet even though it may require a plumber to install.
