4.0 out of 5 stars "The Girl Next Door" is Good!!
Lil Mo is a young singer who can actually sing. Now,there was mixed reviews for Lil Mo's debut CD, "The Girl Next Door" but with this CD, there should be a definite approval from the majority of people. It's obvious from this CD that Lil Mo is happy with her new marriage and child. The CD has great beats and interesting lyrics. I'm sure everyone heard 4Ever,...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as I expected
Dont get me wrong this is not a bad album its just not near as good as her previous effort Based on A True Story which I would give five stars. The best songs on this album are 4ever of course and the last song "Letter to my #1 fan " is decent but I think the song runs a little 2 long. There are only few bright spots on this album but none of the production is...

It's obvious from this CD that Lil Mo is happy with her new marriage and child. The CD has great beats and interesting lyrics. I'm sure everyone heard 4Ever, which is a nice song but that's just the tip of iceberg. "Doing Me Wrong" is an uplifting song about her meeting the man of her dreams after having so many men who did her wrong. The song, "It's Your World" is an inspiring song that tells young ones they can do whatever they want. Other songs that I really like include, "Brand Nu, So Lost Without You, and 1st Time. On the CD, there is only one song that I'll skip. An excellent CD that I would recommend for basically everybody.

4.0 out of 5 stars A very good sophomore effort..Pick It Up!, May 5, 2003

I truly believe that Lil' Mo has one of the greatest voices and talents of our generation, and her music proves it. My only complaint - vocally - is that MTGND should have showed more range for her. Other than that, it is a pretty good CD.

Intro - Is she having sex at the very beginning? :)

Why Do We Fall In Love (7/10) - OK song, not something I will listen to over and over again..OK tho.

Doing Me Wrong (10/10) - Tite song..i love it! Especially the begininng "You've changed me, and the way I feel bout men - I was just so disgusted, cuz the one i loved it couldnt trust him." The emphasis on disgusted does it for me!

4Ever (10/10) - Good song. Classic Lil'mo

10 Commandments (8/10) - OK song, once again. Expected a little more on it.

Aint No Reason (8/10) - Once again, OK song - not much more to say in my opinion.

Heaven Interlude - I like it...the sample is tite.

Brand Nu (7/10) - Good Song, just don't like the hook and the sample. Kinda cheesy to me - but she didn't ask for my opinion :)

1st Time - (10/10) Dang! My boo got a freaky side! Talkin bout lickin the face and grabbing the waist! (Can I?) I love this song! Love to see it on Midnight Love sometime.

So Lost Without You (9/10) Good song. Slow cut with a good hook.

Shoulda Known (12/10) My favorite song on the CD! Slow cut about a guy who never told her about his wife and kids. Classic Lil' Mo. One of my favorites from her.

Disturbing Phone Call - Funny and Ghetto lol

Get Over It (10/10) - Mid Tempo song about a girl who wants her man. Good Song! Sounds like it shouldhave been on BOATS.

It's Your World (9/10) - Inspirational and very good.

Letter to my #1 Fan interlude and song (9/10) I like it alot. Mo is telling her fans not to put her on a pedastool.

Overall a very good CD! Pick it up!! I hope that her label picks up on her talent and promotes her more. Let's pray this isnt her last CD.

While your at it, check out Tamar. She is Toni Braxtons lil sister. She has an incredible voice and great songs. Very, Very Very Good CD!

4.0 out of 5 stars Sophomore Galore, June 3, 2003

Ok...this album is tight!!! You can tell she has been working on her vocals, and from someone that recognizes talent Lil Mo has it going on vocally. Her range is wider, her notes are richer, her voice is stronger and her runs are more precise. Not to mention the beats that accompany her..very well done. I am in love with Ain't no Reason because she trying to say that we in love there is no reason that we can't get through this trying time..before you call it quits let's just talk about it and work it out....I love that!!!! That shows one that is in it for better or worse. I really am playing this cd in my car and loving it everytime I listen to it....

4.0 out of 5 stars From the girl next door to round the way ....Mo has it all!, June 18, 2003

This new one from Lil mo brings us to the new set of joints she decided to lay on us. Well by now everyone knows the hot song "4 Ever" that is one of the best songs on the cd but not a one shot wonder here. Overall the cd is tight and has a lot of tracks that could actually be a single. You have to give credit to missy for producing so many hits latley....she is on a roll. I would say Lil mo had a more rounded album this time around as far as what she talked about and the type of music. She brings strong messages as well as get you jumping on the floor. Or other times laid back and in the mood for whatever might be right. The best tracks are:

*Why do we fall in love
*4 Ever
*Ten Commandments
*Brand Nu -- One of the tighest slow jams on the album(good remake sample)
*1st time -- another good slow jam
*Shoulda Known
*Get over it
*Its your world
*Letter to my #1 fan

These songs here are the main reason to get this album but trust me when I say if you like Hip/hop R+b then you wont be dissappointed. Lil mo took her time to deliver it right the right way.

Get it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Under rated, May 4, 2003

This album was completely under rated. There is not a single way that you haven't heard Lil' Mo before, she is in everything. Now on her second solo attempt, Mo shines. "Meet the Girl Next Door" is "Based on a True Story" taken to the next level. I was quite impressed with not only Lil' Mo's amazing vocals but the production was excellent too. All in all, this album will definitely blow you away.

The best songs on this album are 4ever of course and the last song "Letter to my #1 fan " is decent but I think the song runs a little 2 long. There are only few bright spots on this album but none of the production is up to par with the production on 4 ever. Also the song with lil kim is okay. If you are real big Lil Mo fan you should buy this album, but if not your not missing a whole lot.

I like Lil Mo and she has a WONDERFUl voice. But, i wasn't feeling the songs on this cd. The best songs are 4ever & Why do we fall in love. Her last cd was by far better than this cd.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mo done did it again!!, July 1, 2003

This review is from: Meet the Girl Next Door (Audio CD)
First of all, I just wanna say that after listening to this album, I was very disappointed. Disappointed that Lil' Mo ain't have no more songs on it! My girl Mo went CRAZY on this album!!!! This has definitely been the album of the summer, naw, the YEAR! ... Her vocal styles have matured a lot since her first album, Based on a True Story (which is also great, so go cop that if you ain't got it yet) and I think they will mature even more on her next album. Along with her hit single, "4ever", I especially love the tracks "Ain't No Reason", "So Lost Without You", "Shoulda Known", and "Get Over It". Big up to Missy as well for producing. All in all, Lil' Mo has outdone herself. So y'all gotta RUN to the store and get this if you don't got it yet cuz you don't know what you missin! Holla!

5.0 out of 5 stars Really Hot!, December 3, 2005

I remember when this album 1st came out, I played it nonstop. She's another artist that doesn't get the airplay and respect she deserves. Her songs can really be related to and on top of that, she can SING!!! There are too many artists out here with a record deal and cannot sing at all. This album gets a definite five stars from me.
