Book Description

September 12, 2001
Yurts shiver in the breeze. A magic fountain appears, contructed by a Parisian far from home. Buddhist monks debate with Franciscans about the nature of Man, God, and life on Earth. All this and more appears in Meet the Khan, an ambitious combination of three men's 13th century journals. Friar John meets Kuyuk Khan; Friar William meets Mongke Khan; and Marco Polo meets and serves Kublai Khan. The reader enters Karakorum, Xanadu, and travels thousands of miles with his hardy European travelers. Get ready for the ride (and walk) of your life!

5.0 out of 5 stars Meet the Khan, November 9, 2001

This review is from: Meet the Khan: Western Views of Kuyuk, Mongke, and Kublai (Paperback)
The latest from historian Samuel W Crompton is a collection of three writings by 13th century western travelers who met three Great Khans, powerful Asian emperors. Friar John, Friar William and Marco Polo describe the magnificence and grandeur of the Mongol court. With them, the reader travels thousands of dangerous miles, bears messages between Khans, kings and popes, and debates the nature of God and Man with Buddhist monks. I recommend this fascinating book to all readers interested in East/West history and true adventure!
