this cd brings some of the hardest riddems King Tubby and Sly and Robbietogether.Sly's drum riffs and Robbie's bass lines are crucial to King Tubby" sound selection. These are the dubs to some of the hardest reggae artists out there!

4.0 out of 5 stars Extremely encouraging., October 26, 2004
This review is from: Meet King Tubby (Audio CD)
Meet King Tubby is a hopeful and endearing portrait of a man trying to make his way in a predominantly "thin" society", and his rebellion against the "conventional" body image.

On tracks such as "African Roots" (featuring the poignant lyrics "African roots, i can't stop eating them, HEEEELP MEEE") and "Jah Jah Man" King Tubby regrets the foolish decisions in choosing diets he has made over his life and wishes he was back in his native land where obesity is less frowned upon.

Unfortunately the long - hoped for uncovering of "I'm Really Adopted" was left off this album as there wasn't enough room for the extra documentary which chronicles King Tubby's lucrative "double life" as a pie-eater - a profession his friends and family all believed was his true calling.

King Tubby campaigns for fat black people in the same way that Stevie Wonder campaigned for Blind people, bilbo baggins campaigned for short people and Hitler campaigned for ugly austrian white people. "Only my love" is in fact a song all about cake and his long lasting hatred for Lenin and the lead singer of "Lars Fredrikson and the bastards", cant remember his name right now.

If you listen for 12 minutes after the closing track Jah Jah man you can hear the great man himself requesting more cake over a sampling of him singing in the shower and moaning about how much he hates the IRS. If youve listened to "My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult" you will undoubtedly love this, with the same afro american roots and subtle refrences to pies and Johnny Cash this is right up your street. Apparently instpired my Ringo Star's Cat this is a quite fantastic album, with only a few insulting subtle refrences to anorexics which let it down, meaning i can only lanquish it with four staretts.

If you are of an afro carribean extraction, love the black album, are fat or just love Johnny Cash this is right up your street.

"an intriguing fusion of cake recepies makes quite a delicious desert" - Mother Teresa.
