4.0 out of 5 stars a magical single, June 28, 2008

There are a handful of singles that, for whatever reason, get little radio airplay on even golden oldies stations. The Majors "A Wonderful Dream" certainly falls into that category. The drums, the handclaps, the falsetto lead, and the pure innocent joy of this record was a delight to my little kid ears, and it still brings a smile to me now as an older kid. It's about as catchy a single as you will ever hear, and was,as I recall, a pretty big hit on WLS Radio Chicago, which I was addicted to. Although She's a Troublemaker was a (lesser) hit,it was fun too,as was their version of Anything You Can Do.They were on Imperial Records, same label as Ricky Nelson, and I played my copy of A Wonderful Dream to death. Not sure what became of the lead singer, but he had a pretty amazing falsetto. This song along with such oldies as Oh How Happy by The Shades of Blue,Give Him a Great Big Kiss by The Shangri-Las,and The Orlon's hits, are simply Smiley Songs,a zippity-carefree feeling one rarely if ever hears on the radio today in our way more complex world.

4.0 out of 5 stars One star short due to two missing cuts, September 15, 2009

This review is from: Meet The Majors : A Golden Classics Edition (Audio CD)
This was the first album I owned on which every track was great. I can't imagine why two tracks were left off of the barely 30 minute album when it was released on CD and I hope they are restored when (if?) it is released again. One of the missing tracks is the only version of 'Twist and Shout' that I have ever heard where the high notes are nailed instead of morphing into a wail or a scream.
