(RAW Rating: 3.5) - When you answer God's call, he pours out blessings..., December 23, 2006
This review is from: Meet Me at the Altar (The Altar Series Series) (The Altar Series Series) (Paperback)
In her first fictional novel, MEET ME AT THE ALTAR, author Tamika Johnson tells the story of five characters whose lives intertwine as they deal with the storms of life.
At one time Shana Jackson believed in love until she caught her husband in the arms of another man. Determined to put the past behind her and provide a good life for her daughter, she swears off men and relationships. That is, until she meets Derek Chance in Sunday morning church service.
Derek's last relationship with gold digger Sherry Coleman has left him distrusting all women especially a woman with a child. But when fate puts him next to Shana in church, he finds himself intrigued with her beauty and wants to get to know her better. He soon realizes she is his gift from God. Can Shana and Derek find happiness together or will ghosts from their past deny them a chance at true love?
Sherry Coleman has made many mistakes in her life including letting Derek get away. After enduring many bad relationships since their breakup, she soon realizes she lost the best thing that ever happened to her. On a journey to self-destruction, Sherry is given an opportunity to change her life. Will she answer God's call?
Shawn McAllister has everything a man could want- wealth, prestige, a beautiful wife and daughter. So why does he chose to cheat on his wife Desiree with a variety of women? After hitting rock bottom, he asks God to forgive him and wants a chance to right his wrongs. Can he learn from his mistakes and get his family back?
Tamika Johnson has written an inspiring book with well developed characters and a good storyline. MEET ME AT THE ALTAR offers the perfect blend of faith, romance and suspense. A must read!

The Altar -- A Symbolic Place of Deliverance and Love, October 10, 2006
This review is from: Meet Me at the Altar (The Altar Series Series) (The Altar Series Series) (Paperback)
Author Tamika Johnson penned a wonderful story about forgiveness, deliverance and finding love when the impossible happens to ruin any hopes of ever experiencing love the way God has intended.
Shana Jackson had just started going back to church after finding her husband in the arms of another man. Feeling that she was hurt beyond repair and the thoughts of ever loving again pushed to the recesses of her mind, Shana finds herself sitting next to Derek Chance in church. As handsome as he is, Shana tried to fight off her attraction to him, vowing not to allow herself to enjoy a true relationship again. On the other hand, Derek sets out to prove to Shana that he is the man God has placed in her life to love her and treat her like the queen she is, and to help raise her daughter, Kayla.
Through bumps and lumps, trials and other things, Shana finally allows herself to love again, but it was still difficult because of the baggage she still carried from her previous marriage. Only she had no idea how dangerous it was, literally. Unknown to her, Shana's ex-husband had been watching her. How dare Shana enjoy her life with another man and share their daughter with him.
Johnson shares with us that through God, all things are possible, even true love and deliverance when we meet Him at the altar.
