The land is dry, and Mama must leave Little One to ask the skies for rain. It's important, but Little One is worried and doesn't want Mam to go. "You will feel my love in everything around you," Mama reassures. In the wind, Mama will sing. Her love will be in the warmth of the sun; it will twinkle in the brightest star. And she promises they will be reunited in the moon, "where the sky touches the earth," after the rains come.

"Meet Me at the Moon" is lovely both in word and art. Author/illustrator Gianna Marino perfectly captures the love between a mother and child, and gently broaches the subject of temporary separation. Exquisite illustrations in oranges, yellows and blues are a delight that you'll want to peruse over and over again. This is one of my favorite picture books of the year. Make sure to add it to the top of your "to-own" list.

Absolutely charming book in every way. I have bought all of Gianna Marino's books for my grand daughter and they are always sure to please for a very long time. Her illustrations are so beautifully detailed and her perspective on the animals is always so original. This is a bittersweet story about a mom and her daughter elephant. the anxiety of seperation, the trust of a reunion and the joy of finding one another again - at the moon. Gorgeous.

This book jumped out at me on a table of hundreds of books. The art, design, and story are incredible. I made a $25 bet with my husband that this one will win a Caldecott.

The illustrations are beautiful, really stunning. The story is sweet, but a little sappy and falls short of conveying the deeper meaning that it seems to be striving for. Mama elephant loves baby elephant, but their land is dry, so Mama elephant must leave to ask the sky for more rain. Other members of the African plains look out for Baby elephant and Mama elephant tells Baby that he will know her love by the moon. After the rain falls, Mama elephant and Baby are reunited. The story is a sweet but awkward message about the depths of a mother's love. Despite the shortcomings of the prose, the beautiful illustrations make this picture book totally worthwhile.

My 3yr old granddaughter is absolutely in love with her little piggy. She gives it kisses and talks to it all the time. Haha.....she carries it everywhere, even puts it in her little baby stroller. It's a plactic/rubber material so she can't break it or hurt herself if it's dropped. I also purchased the little (My pink piggy bank) book that was recommended with it and am looking forward to story time (with her new baby piggy of course). I'm very happy with it..... nice quality and cute appearance. You never know what little one's are going to take to so this was a pleasant suprise. Would recommend

I couldn't get all the way through this beautifully illustrated book without tears. I read it to my three year old grandson who wanted to turn the pages faster than I wanted to. This is one of those children's books that adults will cherish. The mama elephant must leave her baby and climb a high mountain to ask for rain because the land is parched. She poetically and lovingly describes how her child will know that she is still with him in spirit, and she does return at the end!

Purchased this book as a gift for newborn to be read to her when she's a little older. Her two and a half year old brother loves the book so it's a two way hit. I know this author personally and love all her children's book- wonderful writing and beautiful graphics.
Definitely recommend.
