4.0 out of 5 stars Nice book for kids
This is a picture book for children, with a cute story about the origin of the Pink Panther wrapped around his legendary appearance inside a rare gem and its pursuit by Inspector Clouseau. The authors, Hope Freleng Shaw and Sybil Freleng Bergman, are the daughters of the creator of the animated Panther, the late Friz Freleng. They have drawn on many of the stories...

3.0 out of 5 stars Story of a panther
This particular title does not provide background information of our beloved Pink Friend.
Don't be fooled, it is a great picture book suitable for parents that would like to introduce this quite old fellow to their children, since the Pink Panther show is almost eternal and it is being aired since the seventies.
If you are looking for information or an...

They have drawn on many of the stories concocted by their Dad as plot elements. And as a bonus, the book is very nicely illustrated by one of Freleng's most valued animators, Art Leonardi. Animation fans may be a little disappointed in the lack of historical content (that's found in Jerry Beck's concurrent book instead), but kids looking for a nice picture book about the animated Panther will love it.

If you are looking for information or an investigation source, this is not the book for you. But if you enjoy a fully drawn story with cute and original art, consider this purchase as your next.

5.0 out of 5 stars My daughter loves this book, May 21, 2011
This review is from: Meet the Pink Panther (Hardcover)
My six-year-old daughter loves this book - she's a huge Pink Panther fan. We borrowed it from the library and she didn't want to part with it, so I bought it here. It was in perfect, brand-new condition and we couldn't be happier. Shipping was fast, too. Thank you!

I will first start by saying that the Pink Panther is my favorite cartoon charecter so I am a bit biased. That said the book itself is full of really great art by Art Leonardi who did many cartoons of the Panther including some that were used at the animation intro to a few of the movies. Now the book is not a 'history of' the Panther, it is a picture/story book. Think of a large childrens book and thats what you have here. The quality of the book is top notch, great images and colors, large size format. If you are a Panther fan you will like it, but do remember it is a story with great illustrations and not a guide to the Pink Panther.
