COMPLETELY GENERIC ROMANCE., February 16, 2002
This review is from: Meet Prince Charming (DVD)
"Meet Prince Charming" looks like something right out of a Romance Film 101 class. You have two neighbors, Samantha (Tia Carrere) and Jack (David Charvet), who hate each other at the start of the film. Why? Who knows...they never tell us what caused the tension to begin with. They both end up at the same dating service in the quaint little borough of Manhattan, NY. The service they use has a website and both of them immediately find someone online who they like. Neither one knows that they are in reality becoming enamored with the neighbor that they so despise (Imagine that!). Eventually, they go on a blind date and find out that they are actually made for each other (Imagine that again!!). Some of your favorite movie cliches are here too. You know...like the one where somebody tries to stop somebody else from getting married while they are at the altar. Or the one where two people who don't like each other get stuck in an elevator all by themselves. You gotta love it! The best thing of all is the long list of annoying product placements. It's like watching one long commercial. In fact, you should check out the credits and see the list of all the companies who paid to have their products in this film! All in all, the acting of both Carrere and Charvet is competent. I just wish they could find better scripts than boring junk like this.

Cute story, but easily forgettable, November 25, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Meet Prince Charming (DVD)
"Meet Prince Charming" has some some serious echoes of 1998's "You've Got Mail", but on it's own is a light, funny, sweet (but sometimes downright) and stupid romp. David Charvet and Tia Carrere play feuding neighbors who hate each other in public, but they are unwittingly in love when they start chatting online. Soon after, they start being friendly to each other. This otherwise predictable romantic comedy takes a surprising twist and has a few comic bits--but still, the two main characters end up happily ever after... as the title would suggest. Although not as good (or as witty) like "You've Got Mail", the actors deliver their lines with low-key zest, the result is a light, fluffy--but ultimately forgettable--romantic comedy that's most likely to appeal to lovers of chick flicks... while other demanding viewers will most likely be disappointed. Rated R for language and brief nudity.

If not.. who is?, October 30, 2002
This review is from: Meet Prince Charming (DVD)
If David Charvet is not prince charming... then who is? This movie captured me from the first minute on Show Time. I have to confess that I am not a fan of Tia Carrere at all... as a matter of fact I wish her role was played by any other! But this is a personal taste, others seem to like her (especially on Relic Hunter) but I don't! The story is a simple love story... and this what gave this movie a special taste! I mean we had it with the complicated dramas. And for me it was time for a change... for a light story. Whether you read this story in a book, newspaper or even if it happened with a friend of yours you'd still be able to enjoy it and smile! :) David Charvet has great potentials for a successful future as an actor and a singer! Go ahead and watch this movie! It may not be for keep but at least rent it.
