Somewhere, Hank Williams is grinnin...,

Always being the cynic, I was skeptical when I first received a home-pressed, 45 RPM single of "Girl with the Biggest Hair". I was wrong. Thrilled, I eagerly awaited the release of the "Meet Red Meat" CD, and I wasn't disappointed with that either. Scott Young's lyrics are carefully crafted, yet light enough to be a joy to listen to. The musicians mesh well, producing a sound simple, tight, and reminiscent of country music when it was the music by and for the Common Man instead of Investors. Red Meat's sound is somewhere between AltCountry and the old stuff by Country Music's true greats, washing away all the pablum and pretense coming out of Nash-'vile' these days. "Meet Red Meat" has rekindled my love of country music -- real country music -- that had been long-suffocated by today's mainstream country drivel. This CD is proof that there is hope for country music after all. This CD is worth the money you'll spend. Buy their other albums too. Go to their gigs. Send them envelopes full of money. We've got to keep music like Red Meat's alive to protect us from Commercialism's wasteland.

Modern production of classic sounds,

Crisp and classic country music with good production of most often humorous lyrics and always tastey licks. A most enjoyable experience that evokes nostalgic thoughts of the country music of the past, but with modern production quality. A tight group that defintely deserves a listen.

Ther are songs here that are surely destined to become American classics..like "Lolita" or "Texas" or "the girl with the biggest Hair". Wonderful stuff indeed very fresh and often very fuuny. Some great pedal steele guitar and fiddle solos. These guys are not that silly young country rubbish we're used to hearing. No pretty boys(or girls) here. Eat red meat ...we all need some

My ex-boyfriend gave me this CD, mainly because he found it funny and kind of annoying, and he was really surprised when I said I loved it. I used to have to edit masses of HTML, and this was a great album to listen to while I did that. I love driving with it as well. It's funny, you can sing along to it, and the music is good. The only other country I really like are Van Lear Rose by Loretta Lynn and the O Brother Soundtrack, so I'm by no means a country music expert. But buy it! You won't be disappointed.

Amazingly talented band. Wonderful vocals and harmony, clever songwriting. This is their first album. They have three great albumsI've seen this band live numerous times since purchasing my first Red Meat album. I now own all their albums. If you ever get a chance to see them when they tour in your area you won't be disappointed. This is country music the way it's meant to be. |
