Meet Sailor Venus is a great buy!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Meet Sailor Venus: Love (Sailor Moon Scout Guides) (Paperback)
Meet Sailor Venus is a must have for Sailor Venus Fans. It's over 80 pages of fun facts and pictures in a handy "Disney Adventures" size format. Included in the work are illustrated synopses of Venus-centric episodes from the first 4 seasons of Sailor Moon, *including* the _Sailor V_ episode which DIC cut from the North American dub, a brief look into the astrology and mythology behind Venus (the planet and indrectly the Senshi), answers from Minako to personal questions illustrated with scenes from various episodes, and other fun surprises! PROS: The book is remarkably comprehensive, pulling in background information from the manga and the anime to make an excellent Sailor V / Sailor Venus / Aino Minako (Mina Aino in the book) compendium. The pictures, are of course, first rate. CONS: Since this book is directly translated from the Japanese original, you have to look at the pictures from right to left, otherwise the order doesn't make sense (this is important because unlike other MIXX works, the pictures in the original were not reversed to compensate for the way Westerners read). Also, the captions are turned sideways to fit in the areas where horizontal Japanese writing would normally go. This can wear on the eyes after a time. There are also some tiny editing glitches, like her attacks being called "Love Chain Encircle" and "Love Me Chains" on alternate pages, and the names "Serena" and "Bunny" being used on the same page, but these are fairly minor nitpicky problems which in no way detract from the fun of the book, which is what's really important. Even with that, as I said before, it's a must-have for any fan of V-chan. Five stars.

Great Venus Resource; Don't Buy for Entertainment,
By A Customer
This review is from: Meet Sailor Venus: Love (Sailor Moon Scout Guides) (Paperback)
This book is a great resource for all those Venus fans who have been confused by differing information from internet sites. It provides clear, definitive information on Venus, as well as loads of great pictures. For anyone running a Venus website, this book is great! However, if you're just buying for personal entertainment, save your money and buy some SM manga instead. ;)My favorite parts of the book are the Sailor Venus Episode Best 5, Mina's Friends, and the Poetry section. The Episodes section has the best five episodes that reveal Mina's true nature. The Friends section has short descriptions of all her friends and their relationships. The Poetry section has translations of four poems, including Route Venus by Naoko Takeuchi (SM creator, duh). Other good points - the book is simply stuffed with illustrations, and it's printed on glossy magazine-quality paper. The worst parts about this book are that it seems to have been written before SM SuperS and SM Sailor Stars, so Venus Crystal Power and Venus Love and Beauty Shock are never mentioned. Also, the narrative viewpoint of the book often switches between first and third person, which can be confusing. One of the worst points is that Mixx did not account for the fact that English-speakers look at pictures from left to right. Therefore, when pictures are arranged in sequence, they must be looked at starting on the right. I can only imagine how confusing this would be if you didn't know Japanese was read from right to left. Also, in order to fit into the space where the Japanese characters were, the captions are turned on their sides, which is tiring to read. To recap: Buy it if you want a good Venus resource (or if your goal is just to own every SM product...). Don't buy it if you just want entertainment (buy manga instead! manga, manga, manga!).

More info then some of the other Guide Books,
This review is from: Meet Sailor Venus: Love (Sailor Moon Scout Guides) (Paperback)
This one has a lot more information on Sailor Venus, because they show one of the eposides that DiC cut out, the one about Venus's past. Also they tell a little more about how she became Sailor V to Sailor Venus. Like the other Guide Books this one has really great poems, especially Route Venus, by Naoke Takeuchi. All in all this is one of the better Guide Books of the Sailor Scouts, but if you know alot about Sailor Moon don't really waste your money on this.

A Fun Book,
By
This review is from: Meet Sailor Venus: Love (Sailor Moon Scout Guides) (Paperback)
Personally, I find this book very simple to read when there's nothing else to do. It's fun to look at all the pictures, and although there is writing, there aren't so many words and paragraphs to read that it makes your head hurt. Some of the pictures are exclusive, but most of them are from the TV series, and from the movies. If you are a die-hard Sailor Moon fan, you will find this book to be rather boring and uninformative.
This book includes a showing of some of the episodes Sailor Venus has been the star of, ten pages of bits of information about Sailor Venus, some brief information about Sailor Venus when she disguised herself as Sailor V, and lots more. My only problems with Meet Sailor Venus, are that the pictures showing picture-by-picture of her transformation, attacks, and episodes aren't really in order, so it's very easy to get confused. And I've noticed that in ALL the scout guides, in the "50 Secrets About (Name of scout)" section, the scouts rarely give away their height, and never give away their weight! It's not that important, but I just think it's silly for the author to dedicate a small section to them talking about not wanting to tell their weight. Those aren't big problems, though, considering that there are so many parts of the book, which in-all is 93 pages long. The book is about the size of a chapter book, and like I said, there are a lot of pictures, so don't expect 93 pages worth of reading material. I would recommend this book if you are just getting into Sailor Moon, or are somewhat of a Sailor Moon fan and want something light to read while you eat a snack, or sit on the couch. CAUTION: This book DOES contain inappropriate content. You don't want to buy this for your younger child, trust me! The youngest child I would give this book to for them to freely read would be twelve or thirteen, depending on the child.

The Sailor Venus guide is the best written guide so far. All the information is correct and the epoisode summaries are more detailed. And the pictures! Oh! They're great pictures!! I only noticed to bad things about this book. *_*,, It doesn't tell you how the transformation pen was powered up. And the words were on the sides of the pictures. (We're not in Japan, MIXX!!),,[

Pretty Nice And Informative,
By Gothic Geisha (California, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Meet Sailor Venus: Love (Sailor Moon Scout Guides) (Paperback)
This is the best book you can get for information on Sailor Venus... Except one thing..... All of the Scout Guides are the same in the way that they make all the scouts un-modest! I know it sounds rediculous, but really, it's highly unrelistic and that's one thing they need to change. They are all like "Yes, and I'm beautifull and thin and long legged and I have the most wonderfull body!" Really! They all sound like clones! But besides that, these are great Sailor Moon books, that yu've just got to have if your a fan....-Enjoy

Anything Sailor Moon is da bomb!,
This review is from: Meet Sailor Venus: Love (Sailor Moon Scout Guides) (Paperback)
I can explain this book in one word, and that word is, WOW! It was so good, and I couldn't put it down. I have 3 scout guides (Mars, Jupiter, and Venus) and Venus is my favorite guide so far. The color is vibrant, making it easy to read. I also like the Top 5 Episodes because DIC changed so much of the North American version, so it's a good way to see how the episodes were meant to be, so, BUY IT!
