Editorial Reviews

Review

"It's all here. The questions that teachers, and parents as well, always ask are discussed in a straightforward and highly readable fashion." --The New Jersey Psychologist

"Meeting the ADD Challenge is a book that discusses attention deficit disorder and possible interventions in a way that any educator, parent, counselor, and administrator could understand. I would recommend that anyone finding themselves working with children or adults having ADD read this book. They will benefit from the insight, examples, and experiences that are included in this comprehensive and easy-to-read book." --Nona Jordan, Catalyst for Change

"The major strength of Meeting the ADD Challenge is that the choices of assessments and interventions are geared to the individual student. This is not a book with a menu of suggestions for working with all children with ADD, but rather a set of processes that the teacher should follow to determine the individual's needs and what interventions would best meet those needs." --Mark Kiselica, The School Counselor

5.0 out of 5 stars Right on target... Not just for teachers, March 6, 2002
This review is from: Meeting the Add Challenge: A Practical Guide for Teachers (Paperback)
I originally purchased this book because my child is a patient of Dr. Gordon's. I not only bought the book (and the worksheet book not shown here) for myself, but I quickly purchased a set for my child's school and my sister as well.

The information and approach are straight forward, easy to understand and most of all, easy to implement. They don't just give you a way to "solve a problem", they teach you the core theories, which then enable the family and school to customize their approach.
I have purchased many "ADD" books, and this one far surpasses in quality and presentation. The second runner up (and has more worksheet templates inside) is "Add/Adhd Behavior-Change Resource Kit : Ready-To-Use Strategies & Activities for Helping Children With Attention Deficit Disorder".

If you purchase this book, I STRONGLY recommend that you also purchase the accompanying workbook, The AD/HD forms book: Identification, measurement, and intervention. [Contains 30 forms and checklists for children and adolescents with ADD/ADHD] ...

1.0 out of 5 stars Not for autisic children, January 15, 2011
This review is from: Meeting the Add Challenge: A Practical Guide for Teachers (Paperback)
The author seems to lump all kids with behavior problems into the ADD category and then profit from the broader spectrum of disorders. I would not recommend this book to anyone who has autistic children.
