4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent overview of the field of Physical Therapy, March 10, 2011
This review is from: Meeting the Physical Therapy Needs of Children (Hardcover)
This text is an excellent overview of how seasoned pediatric therapists are able to meet the needs of children in a variety of contexts. It is the kind of well-woven text that certain students may fail to use properly because is designed to raise as many questions as it answers. It has a tremendous number of resourceful tables formulated to provide quick reference, especially useful to those who read fine print. Its information regarding development, assessment tools, and diagnosis specific information is current and on the money. This textbook integrates body system specific cases that provide in depth and clear depictions of the complicated task of serving children with special needs over time. For a doctorate level student who is a motivated learner, it can provide not only a well rounded and balanced look at the many dimensions inherent in the field of pediatric PT, but also a great supplement to any pediatric course. Top pediatric physical therapists contribute to the book's well organized chapters and concluding case studies, offering a variety of expert approaches. It could be faulted in that it does not provide much spoon-feeding to students anxious for the exactitudes of what to do. True, it may not suit everyone, but it does enrich the field of available texts out there!

2.0 out of 5 stars peds PT text, April 25, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Meeting the Physical Therapy Needs of Children (Hardcover)
I bought this book as a requirement for my peds course in PT school. I didn't find the book to be very well with my course, as I didn't feel they connected well. This may be the fault of the professors. It did not provide enough detail about exam/interventions, as well as development, as our course did. I wasn't able to supplement my notes well with it, so it remained on my bookshelf most of the semester.
