About the Author

Jess Stearn is a prizewinning journalist formerly with Newsweek and the New York Daily News. He is the author of over 30 books, several of which were bestsellers, including: Yoga, Youth and Reincarnation; Door to the Future; The Sixth Man; I Judas; The Power of Alpha Thinking; The Search for the Girl with Blue Eyes; The Search for the Soul: Psychic Lives of Taylor Caldwell; Prophet in His Own Country; Soulmates; Elvis' Search for God; and the #1 New York Times bestseller, Edgar Cayce: The Sleeping Prophet.

He began writing books after years of investigative reporting. His books have been translated into fifteen languages. Stearn's books have changed the lives of thousands of people, and his book "Edgar Cayce on the Millenium" reflects the transition of mankind into the New Millenium. Jess Stearn started writing about the little know subject of psychic phenomena after he had a personal experience. This brought about several best selling books "Edgar Cayce - The Sleeping Prophet" published in the U.S. Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Japan and South America. His Door to the Future, which preceded the Edgar Cayce book, carried the Jean Dixon prediction about the assassination of John Kennedy months before it occurred. --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Captures an intimate side of many famous people., December 2, 1998

This review is from: Meetings: A Reporter's Notebook (Paperback)
Having known Jess Stearn for many years, I'm always surprised at how great his memory is. He pulls innumerable names and facts out of thin air when recounting his days as a reporter. I guess this is what makes him such a valuable writer for our times. The stories in this volume are interesting, and they show a human face to many famous people. Imagine meeting Grace Kelly before her film career took off, or interviewing Elvis before he became a legend. Or the famous generals, heads of state, etc... The feeling I got from the book was not one of Jess saying "Hey, look who I met, I must be pretty important," but rather that he came away from his "meetings" with an appreciation for the workings of something larger than himself. And in his long life, I know that this has served him well. A terrific book!

Interesting book with unusual perspectives on different notable people. I enjoyed Jess's take on all, but thought the book would be more along the lines of his metaphysical works- which I really love. However, it was interesting to find his reporting background led him into revealing takes on these personalities. I can see how it evolved into his later work with Edgar Cayce. He manages to assess, or have revealed to him, personal characteristics/insight that might not be apparent to other interviewers. Enjoyable.
