My nephew has the 80 count set, which my 17 month enjoyed playing with. I purchased the 200 count Mega Blocks thinking that would give us more things to build, because it would include more pieces. I expected some of the larger 6 peg blocks since the 80 count package had several. In fact, I was expecting additional 6 peg blocks since it was the 200 count package, so I was disappointed to see it didn't include any. Instead of including bigger blocks, they just inserted more of the single peg blocks. Now I wish I would have purchased 2 of the 80 count package instead.

Overall, I love the Mega Blocks. I just wish they wouldn't have put so many of the single peg pieces in the 200 count.

March 2012 Update - My son is nearly 4 and still plays with the Mega Blocks often. If you don't mind having a toy with several pieces, this is a terrific buy for a 1 year old that they'll be able to use for a couple of years.

We already had the 80 piece bag of Mega Bloks, which my 2 year old daughter has played with extensively since she was introduced to them in her day care class. She really enjoys putting every block we have into a single tower, knocking it over and starting again.

The bag is great for storage. Strong plastic, woven cloth handles. The one I received was red, not yellow, so the picture may be different from the bag you receive also.

As fas as bloks go, the 200 piece set contained several pieces that my 80 piece set did not. I got a set of wheels, two "roof"-shaped pieces (or nose-cones) and at least one 90-degree angled piece.

Highly recommend for toddlers to satisfy the building urge. Light-weight, robust, colorful, easy to assemble and disassemble, hard to swallow. Of course always use adult supervision.

These blocks are great for motor skill development and allow a child to use his or her imagination. I would not want parents not to purchase this toy because of incorrect information they receive about this product from a review (kids love this toy!) I did an internet search for "mega bloks harmful chemicals" and discovered this excerpt from one of the web pages I looked at regarding toy safety:

Many toy companies are planning to or already have eliminated phthalates from production surpassing the CPSC's voluntary ban. A recent example is Mega Bloks, a manufacturer of preschool building blocks. In an October 16, 2000 press release, a Mega Bloks spokesman said, "Parents should be reassured that their infants will not be exposed to any phthalates or PVC while playing with Mega Bloks construction toys." NYPIRG commends Mega Bloks and other manufactures for protecting children from potentially toxic chemicals.

The quality of the blocks are good, but they fit inconsistently. Some fit snugly while others are quite loose.

Also, this set doesn't have very many usable pieces. They have packed this kit with too many single pieces which don't serve any purpose other than stacking on top of each other; however, since they don't fit snugly, they fall apart and topple over.

All in all, this is a "mixed bag" and I wish they had more pieces of longer length.

I purchased these for my 18 month old son last year for Christmas, and while he did get some use out of them, there are better blocks out there. The biggest problem we have experienced is that the blocks do not fit perfectly together, so when my son is building a tower, sections will spin and fall over, or will completely fall apart when he tries to move them from one place to another. This leads to some serious frustration for a two year old! We have since purchased the Lego Duplo blocks and had a much better experience.

Great product as my child loves to play with them, but the biggest issue is that they have so many single pieces and not enough large pieces. My child likes to build walls and the single pieces fall down when they get too tall and if there were more larger pieces, that wouldn't happen. Other than that, it's a great toy.

We have two young boys, a 2 and 5 year old. They love our old set of about 100 pieces, however we always seemed to run out of blocks. So I decided to purchase this set so we had 2x as many. The bag is nice and there are some new pieces that we didn't have before, such as the roof tops and angles pipes, however there were FAR TOO MANY SINGLE PEG PIECES. We were expecting a set with more 4 and 8 peg pieces so we could build our towers and castles bigger and better.
Overall, a good set, but we were disappointed in the small amount of larger pieces in this set.

I purchased the Megablocks for my 4 year old grandson. He loved them immediately and took them outside to play with them in his sandbox. He loves to build BIG buildings so this set fit the bill perfectly. I noticed also that there were specially shaped pieces in the set which were nice such as a house and a car with turning wheels. The pieces fit together easily, colorful and the totebag was great for storing the pieces.

I bought this set for my son who is 19 months old. He loves to play with them. He can't really build anything with them yet, but is getting good coordination skills just putting the blocks together and pulling them apart. He loves to help Mommy and Daddy build things. He also likes to distroy the buildings and say "timber" even when I am not through with my architectual masterpiece (sigh) :-)

There are a lot of blocks and connector blocks (which I read in other reviews that some of the smaller sets didn't have many connector blocks). Plenty to build with. Love the large size of the blocks too!

I purchased a second 200 peice Megabloc set just like this one a couple weeks after buying the first one. I haven't opened it yet, but I know we will as my son's (and myself's) buildings get bigger. They are a lot of fun!!!

Purchased the 200pc Mega Bloks Duffle bag for my 19mo old daughter. The second she saw the red bag get removed from the shipping box, she was like "Oooooooooooh!" and once open, was stacking away. Great for hand eye coordination and learning the different colors. I can "see" her thinking about how to place the different shaped pieces together and make a tower. I made several objects (rocketship, large bird, airplane, lizard) in front of her, and she was able to recognize them immediately. I grew up a Lego user (never had Duplo) so this was my first real experience with Mega Bloks, and it's pretty good so far. The pieces have slight trouble sticking together if it is more than four bricks high, and this set there are ALOT of 1x1 pieces, not many 4x1 or 2x2 pieces which typically are needed as a basis for bodies, but it's a start before i let her play with the smaller normal Lego sets that I still kept when i was younger.

Overall, the quality of the plastic bricks is nice and durable, i did not see any flashing from the injection mold casts. The Bag is fairly large and fairly robust and doesn't seem it will tear on the sides, however i am cautious with the plastic zipper, seems cheaply manufactured. The Bricks wipe down easily with anti-septic wipes for when your kid gets sick, so passing this on to relatives or friends is easy. Since they are large pieces, stepping on them is easily avoidable because they are seen, and won't hurt as much as traditional smaller Lego pieces when barefoot (at least the time i stepped on it, it wasn't that bad). I am pleased with my purchase, and i'm sure you will too.
