The castle looks great, and the idea is great, but the execution stinks. There are a number of pieces that absolutely refuse to stay together. Some of the pieces are formed such that placing them in the correct position causes tension that causes them to 'spring' apart when bumped even slightly. Half of the time constructing a section is less like putting together the LEGO blocks that inspired this and more like balancing the pieces on top of one another and hoping they won't pop apart before you add the next piece.

While hardcore building block enthusiasts might balk at the large pre-built sections, King Arthur's castle is a very nice balance of pieces and playability that can appeal to both young children (8+) and collectors. Lots of nice details, like a fireplace, food items, blacksmith's anvil, and a hunting hound add to what is otherwise a nicely designed (but unexceptional) fantasy medieval set. The Round Table included is a beautiful piece, but it has a very interesting assortment of names gilded on it--opting to include many of the lesser knights while ommitting some of the more prominant ones. Odd, but cool looking.
The knight figures included have a remarkable degree of detail and flexibility/posablity (many points of articulation), and their interchangeable accessories all fit tightly. The "battle action" feature was novel, but didn't really add much for me and my kids (although it does allow the little figurines to fight much easier). The griffon was a standard "Plasma" type creature from the MegaBrands line, but the figurines can fit on the building studs. All in all, the castle makes a great centerpiece to a Mega Bloks King Arthur collection, (you need more figurines that what come with the castle to make it full use of it), and provides many unique pieces for a Lego collector who would rather stick with their traditional yellow mini-figures. Really a very good bargain for around $50, with very high quality plastic, sculpts, and molds.

My boys (9 and 7) are huge Lego fans. We have bought a Lego set for every birthday and Christmas for the last 5 years. I bought this because it was a great deal on Amazon and I thought it was comparable to Legos. IT IS NOT. My 9 year old (who can put together the most complicated Lego sets without help) had a hard time putting this set together. The pieces don't fit together right so he would try to squeeze them together and a whole section of the castle would break apart. It looks great now that it is put together but it as soon as it gets taken apart that will be the end. They will never try to put it back together again - it was too frustrating for them. Stick with Lego's!

Poorly made pieces. Many pieces were bowed and would not stay together. Tried to super glue the pieces together and they were so bowed they would not hold. I will not buy mega bloks again. Threw it in the trash! Worthless!

Has anyone called Megablocks about the warped pieces (these are the ones causing all the problems??) I am calling them on Monday (they are conveniently closed for the holiday) and am going to demand they send me my money back and/or fix the pieces and then send me replacement bags. Meanwhile, I have a VERY sad 7 year old boy...it will take me a LONG time to buy Megablocks again over Lego, which I have NEVER had an issue with. Sigh.

My seven year old son got the battle action bridge for his birthday and was sooooo excited to play with it. When we tried to put it together, the pieces are so chinsy they won't stay together. I am taking it back to Target to get him a "Lego" brand castle set that I am really hoping will be of the quality the Lego brand usually puts out. Now I know why the Legos are more expensive than the Megablocks. Buyer beware.........you get what you pay for!!!! I only rated this toy a 1 because zero was not an option!!! It is beyond useless!!

I currently bought this product for my child. I should have just flushed my money down the toilet. The instructions for construction of this product are great but everything else is rotten. When putting together the pieces they do not correspond to the insructions and with any added pressure to connect pieces they fly off or crumble. Be sure to have a tube of superglue handy, thats the only way it will stay together. Why is there not a 0 rating for this product, that is what it deserves? If this is the kind of product this company makes I'm very suprised they are still in business.

This toy taught me a good lesson: that manufacturing tolerances are extremely important. Legos just fit together and you can build 100 block walls without fear of them misaligning or popping apart. Mega Bloks do not do that. In fact, when you try to assemble some of the sections of the castle, the upper tiers/bloks just don't have a chance to fit properly and often just pop off.
The details and construction ideas are nifty, just no chance to build properly due to the poor quality.

This toy is very disappointing. When my nephew and I started playing with it, we were both excited by the fun theme. The "MicroAction" of the horse and characters is mildly amusing, however our excitement soon turned to disappointment when we started assembling the castle.
The pieces don't fit together properly, often coming un-clicked with little or no stress upon the pieces. The walls of the castle don't stay up, the items don't stay in the characters' hands, the people fall off the horses, body parts fall off regularly, etc. This toy is a blatant copy of LEGO's design. LEGO is a great product -- the pieces stick together well, the instructions are clear, the themes are fun, etc. There were only 2 good thing about this King Arthur toy: (1) it reminded me of how much better LEGOs are than MegaBloks; (2) it inspired an extensive conversation amongst the 3 kids in the house about the difference between good quality toys and cheap toys, and how companies will try to trick people into buying their toys by making the packaging look awesome even if the toy isn't.

We bought this last year. A lot of the pcs were warped, and some missing. We had to glue it together for them to be able to play with it at all as the warped pcs would start popping off then it would collapse. A huge disappointment. This was the gift the boys were the most excited to get then it was junk. :( Save your money for lego.
