5.0 out of 5 stars This toy is just plain great!
I purchased this toy as a birthday present for my child. He is a creative little guy who loves to build things and take things apart and then build again. What is great about the 100 count MagnaCase is that is allows him to do just that. There are no instructions for him to build a boat or a plane, he has the ability to build whatever he wants and we try to encourage...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great fun, but no directions!!
Magnext is a fun product, my son enjoys playing with the few sets he has and loves to make big space stations and crash in to them (breaking them), and then build it right back up again.

The only thing he is bummed about is that he really wanted to make some of the designs on the box. He tried by himself but couldn't figure it out, so I helped him. Two of the...

What is great about the 100 count MagnaCase is that is allows him to do just that. There are no instructions for him to build a boat or a plane, he has the ability to build whatever he wants and we try to encourage that kind of creativity in him. I recommend this toy to anyone considering purchasing it as it has brought much enjoyment to my son and myself. (good quality time together)

i bought it for my nephew and he never goes in the car or airplane without it. the case is small enough to fit into a back pack yet inside it has many different parts to play for hours. the parts connect to the case by magnets so that you do not lose any smaller pieces. overall, it is a great value for the money and definitely a must have for creative kids who love to build!

Two of the figures on the box are make-able, but not useable, and a third one is very deceptive.

First, the balancing beam on the top isn't structurally sound enough to hold both of those figures because of the small red brace, that actually holds the beam. It doesn't "click" into place, or "snap," or anything. It merely slides of the top, making it impossible to use as a crane or balance two objects with dissimilar weights.

Second, the MOST deceptive, is the cube that is being spun in the picture. After 7 minutes of figuring out what it was, how to build it, building it, and it falling over, I spent another 6 minutes figuring out different ways it could be supported properly without getting in the way of the spinning cube. If you do get it built, and it spins, you must be gentle and make sure it doesn't break your structure in addition to it not moving up the pole or else it will hit your structure -- and break it.

Third, the ball and chain idea that is happening on the picture requires an extra ball be placed on the stick. Make sure to really jam that stick in there too, it's very difficult.

Fourthly, there are no directions for building anything but basic shapes, which could possibly be that they manufacturer wants children to expand it with their own imagination. Doesn't matter either way, if you put something on the cover, you should back it up with directions.

I would like to point out that the product is fun and you can be very creative. The more you play with it, the better and more frequently you come up with something new to build. After 3 weeks we're still having fun at least an hour or more a day. The packing is deceptive, and the case it comes with it only good to store stuff in (even though a plastic container with a lid would be even better and suitable for additional parts).

I recommend buying the cardboard boxes and putting the pieces in a plastic container with lid. You'll get more pieces and have better storage.

3.0 out of 5 stars Made in China. Get the original, Geomag, instead., March 2, 2009
This review is from: Mega Bloks MagNext 360 Case (Toy)
I insist on buying products made in countries that are democracies or those that are clearly striving for better human rights. Magnext is made in China so I bought a Geomag set instead.

Geomag is Swiss made and is the original magnetic geometry toy. After comparing the Geomag set that I purchased with the Magnext 360 (a friend has one for his son), it is plainly obvious that the Geomag is better made and the magnets appear to be much more securely molded in place than on the Magnext.

2.0 out of 5 stars Concept is great but quality is compromised.., January 19, 2009
= Durability:2.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Mega Bloks MagNext 360 Case (Toy)
This toy makes good shapes, but can hold only small ones together, the big ones either deforms or breaks.

There is no manual or examples of what you can construct, it is up to yours or child's imagination.

The case is useless.it won't open smoothly and will not close if all the pieces are inside.

3.0 out of 5 stars case quality??, January 30, 2009

This review is from: Mega Bloks MagNext 360 Case (Toy)
My 4 year old really loved the old style Magnetix, so I decided to try these out for Christmas. All the pieces look great and it comes with quite a few, but I think the new shapes are not quite as fun for a 4 year old. Which is OK since the toy is marked for 6 and up. He will grow into them. I was not pleased, however, with the quality of the case. It is hard to open and one of the storage compartments is loose and will not stay closed. I also don't think it holds the creations all that well. Overall, we still love Magnetix at our house and they are getting a lot of play time.

Inferior strength magnets.
NO INSTRUCTIONS - NO EXAMPLES
Very difficult to open and close case - multiple pinch point danger
My son, who is very visual oriented was frustrated when the magenets
failed to hold the simplest design. Returning ASAP to Target and on to the original, elsewhere.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good toy; not such a great case, October 7, 2009

This is the second Magnext product I have purchased. My two daughters (ages 4 and 5) love building things with the magnext. The big problem with this particular purchase is the case itself. It is difficult to open; my girls can't open it by themselves. Also, there isn't really enough storage space inside, particularly since the two largest compartments are underneath the plastic cover that you are supposed to use as a base for building. This means that you have to dump everything out before you start building, which almost guarantees that parts are going to end up under the rug and that it will take a long time to clean up. The whole point of paying extra money for the case is for convenient storage! I would recommend buying a different set, and providing your own storage.

This set is really nice. My boys are 7 & 10 and they love Magnetix. I love that they are using their imaginations. This set will make both mom & kids happy. I ordered it 2 months ago and the boys still play with it a couple times a week.
