This rework of the old Banshee kit is worth buying even if you have the original kit.
The UNSC automated point-defense turret is a major piece for most collections.
The turret has been generally unavailable in the primary market.
The Covenant Elite Pilot has parts to be a standard Covenant Elite figure.
The EVA Spartan is standard issue.
The weapon selection is above average. Very few kits contain a Focus Rifle.
The M41 Rocket Launcher is always welcome.

Building the Banshee Blitz is something of a problem.
The early steps almost seem designed to undo earlier steps.
While not a difficult build, it can be frustrating.
The clear display stand is very nice and very welcome.
The turret looks better from a distance than close up.

Mega Bloks elected to segment the gun barrels detracting from the appearance.
While not dissatisfied with my purchase, there are some drawbacks. O
verall, this is a good kit and worth buying.

This is a great little set. It's not too complicated because there aren't too many pieces to it. But the instructions are a little hard to understand. I recommend that you look carefully at how the pieces are lined up and where they are suppose to go and don't be afraid to look a step ahead to be sure you got it right. This was not as hard to build as the Mega Bloks UNSC Mantis but it still throws a bunch of pieces at you all at once. This set is a more solid set though and so far none of the pieces have fallen off while playing around with it. It's more kid friendly than the Mantis. I'm happy with it. I bought it mostly for the UNSC automated point-defense turret so I can use it for a military train base I have built that consist of various Mega Blok and Lego sets. The cannon is perfect in my opinion. The Banshee is really cool as well but rather simplistic. It's easy to place the mini fig in its cockpit. The mini figs are nice and have way more articulation than a Lego mini fig. The reason I have not given this set a perfect score is because of crappy 'paint' job on some of the pieces. the mini figs for example are kind of messy looking and the canopy of the Banshee has some overlapping as well. The canopy also has visible mark that appears to be where it was removed from whatever it was attached to. They should sand and buff these kind of things away. Legos don't suffer from this but Lego doesn't make Halo items now does it. I like this set a lot. I like the Mantis set a lot as well. I also have the Halo Countdown set coming in the mail so I obviously like these sets. While I have played Halo I'm not a big fan and this is not why I bought these sets. I've bought them because they look so darn cool. I do recommend this one. I think it was worth it.

Look out, the Covenant is on the attack! Quick get out your UNSC troops and take 'em down. Banshee comes with convenient anti-aircraft ground gun to shoot them down. Great for Halo adventures at home with your kids! My middle school son loves it!

My 9 year old LOVES Halo, and loves legos and mega bloks now. We've been doing a lot of the Halo sets, and I happened to see after Xmas that they had a bunch of them 40 to 60 percent off, so I grabbed a dozen different ones.

As with all the megablok Halo sets, it's done very well and looks great. I used to dislike the way things were packaged, unlike Lego kits that have bags numbered and used for specific parts of the build... But I found that ultimately I like the lack of organization since now I've showed my 9 year old how to get all the bags open and start sorting out all the parts into piles so everything is organized and easy to find. I think that, for me, is now a bonus since he's getting really good at sorting things, analyzing different parts that have something in common (such as angled pieces of different sizes and shapes going in separate piles but all together so when he needs some angled piece, he knows what part of the floor to look for) and planning how to space them out so the ones he has to get the most often are within arms reach. That to me was like a lightbulb going off, since I was able to turn the negative into a great teaching tool. Especially with the large sets like the Elephant (almost 1300 pieces to sort and organize) and the new Forward Unto Dawn we have (that is almost 2900 pieces).

For a 9 year old, having the colored dots showing exactly where each piece fits is great. It helps for the larger sets since it makes it easy to get each section done. He starts out intimidated by the sheer number of pieces, but as he starts he just focuses on a step at a time and has learned that large things are comprised of smaller things, and that if you take big things in small sections, it's not so overwhelming.

This product was bought as a birthday present for a 8 year olf. he is into leggo's and I thought we would try these for something different. He loved it. The pieces are many and I do not recommend it for any age under 8. Unlike leggos it is made of a harder plastic. Otherwise kept his attention for a long period of time.
