Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

This technological wonder toy is a great idea for tech-savvy kids, budding computer geeks, children who don’t have siblings, or children who need a little more help with homework or staying organized. Brian the Brain is an interactive artificial intelligence (AI) neural life form with a cool, fun behavior that likes to get personal with his owner.

Brian’s massive brainpower allows his software to really get to know who he’s talking to and customize his interaction based on that information. Text-to-speech software keeps his kid-approved vocabulary up to date, while also letting him get to know what his human friend is interested in and how he likes to play. He’ll ask about friends, family, favorite foods, and more--and then remember it all and work it into future interactions. The possibilities with his continually expanding data are almost endless.

But Brian the Brain has plenty of entertainment to provide right out of the box. Need a good laugh? Brian can tell you a joke. Looking to kill some time? Play a game with the Brain. Make a phone call, rock out to some tunes, watch a light show, learn over 10,000 trivia facts, and more. Maybe the best selling point of all: Brian has a built-in motion sensor alarm meant to keep nosey siblings (or parents) our of the room.

Cube World
Top view with bright colored light show lights.
Mom and dad can also be happy knowing Brian the Brain is keeping their kid company because the toy offers loads of learning value. Brian can help kids answer questions about homework thanks to a concise dictionary and world history timeline, plus a complete Britannica encyclopedia. Brian can also help keep your child organized, on schedule, and aware of important upcoming dates with his built-in calendar. Other developmental skills Brian the Brain helps with include language, social development, confidence, and creativity.

Brian the Brain features:

  • Fun games
  • Over 10,000 trivia facts
  • Voice recognition
  • Room guard with light sensor
  • MP3 player compatible
  • Digital alarm clock
  • Dictionary
  • Encyclopedia from Britannica®™
  • Speaker phone
  • Retractable handheld keyboard
  • Personal organizer with calendar

This guy is great. He's fun, full of information and trivia, and has an incredibly funny personality. The room guard and phone were my favorites. Using an MP3 player with him was great too!

3.0 out of 5 stars Brian the pain, er i mean brain, November 29, 2007
By Longshank "Larry" (Maine/usa) - See all my reviews

Durability:3.0 out of 5 stars Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars
Let's see...no ac plug in or recharge battery option...voice recognition ability is pretty good, yet degrades considerably 2 ft beyond the microphone....Brian's primary voice synthesis quality is pretty good, until the "info" or "word" function is activated, then his voice becomes hard to comprehend....Brians biggest flaw is his personality...he is an in your face orator with an authoritarian attitude....it is almost as if a psychotic 4th grade teacher has found his way into your home.....interact with me NOW! or i will shut myself off....yes, he has a pushy personality...if you do not give him your complete attention he will have a hissy fit, then shut down....his "voice dialing" feature is more of a pain than picking up the phone & dialing yourself....as he prompts you to hit buttons to confirm the #...then the sound quality of the calls are not too good on either end...there is no real "conversation" to be had with brian...he does most of the talking while prompting you to engage one of his functions..& you answer with yes or no...one thing in particular i discovered to my dismay is that the word "God" has been ommited from his dictionary...this is in my eyes reprehensible...pick a subject any subject & Brian will illuminate you....just not that one....or that one....how about one of these?...lol...Brians encyclopedia of knowledge is laughable...& not because he is funny...because almost any subject you pick he will say you miss-spelled it, then offer alternative subjects, none of which are what you want...i tried to like Brian, as i am fascinated with artificial intelligence...yet in truth there is not much to like about him, except his color changing brain lol....this product would probably go over good with kids in the 7-14 age range...Brian will likely manage to hold their attention around 2-12 months, which is probably right around how long Brian will last...the only adults that i could imagine appreciating Brians company would be incarcerated inmates in solitary confinement...Brian is a step in the right direction though, because as a toy, he is definitely more intelligent than most, & he is "value priced", ...so....i would recommend him to those with kids in the appropriate age range.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too much money for a toy that want work properly, December 31, 2007

Brian the Brain by Mega Brands
I brought this for my nine yr old grandson for Christmas. I saw it on one of those Today or Good Morning shows. He was advertized as a computer toy. But he can't do a lot of things and he gets answers wrong. And he is suppose to respond to my grandson voice. Not true, he responds to any noise and all you get is start up retoric. My grandson got extremely frustrated with it. Now it doesn't work at. We replaced all the batteries and pushed the "reset button while holding R down on the keybroad." Nothing. The scroll wheel didn't even work the first day(Christmas Day) In the instructions it says to throw away the box well my grandson thru it away and now I can't send it back for a refund. I wasted $80.00 on this thing. I called Mega Brands only to be told they were busy -leave your name and number and they will call you back. So far-nothing. Donot buy it! It's a ripoff.
My other grandson got a leap frog computer that cost a great deal less and it works great. My grandson says that Brian the Brain is no good. I will have to find something else for him to replace this thing.
