Features
Mega Man Network Transmission uses the popular chip system introduced in the original Battle Network role playing game. By collecting chips, you equip Mega Man with special weapons and support items that can enhance his abilities or provide a defensive advantage. One chip can upgrade his jumping abilities; another can create a protective shield that immediately inflicts damage when attacked by enemies. The new enhanced backgrounds will create multiple levels of effects that add a new, exciting element to the game play as enemies fire shots or are eliminated.

Old skool fun, totally awesome!,

This review is from: Mega Man Network Transmission (Video Game)
I should start off by saying that I .... have been playing Mega Man games since they first came out in the USA. But over the years I kind of skipped over the X series, and the Battle Network series. For a while I had planned on getting this title, but really had to wrestle over my decision for a week or so. ... Let me say, I shouldn't have worried -- THIS GAME RULES! More fun than most other games these days. The graphics are gorgeous 2.5d -- you are limited to moving in 2 dimensions, but the graphics are pretty much 3d (as well as cel-shaded -- but the mix really works well). A lot like the style of Super Smash Brothers Melee. Lots of really nice lighting effects, backgrounds, etc. But what this game is really about is the action! It's not really too tough, but it's still challenging. Not mind-numbingly impossible by any means, but not a total cynch, either. It's the kind of game that sucks you in, and because you are having so much fun you don't notice how much time is passing. This is a good thing! Yes, you may have to go through levels a number of times to get them right -- who cares? That's what it's all about! At first I found the chip system a little bit confusing, but now that I understand it, I really like it a lot -- tons of special weapons and flexibility in your approach to taking on the bad guys. The control scheme is very easy to learn, so you will be able to jump right in and start blasting viruses and navis gone wild. GET THIS GAME -- don't question your decision, just get it, and you will be happy. Activates that little dopamine generator in your brain that not many games these days manage. Thank you, Capcom! And might I add, what a very reasonable price for a brand new title...Here, here!

Not As Difficult As Everyone Says,
By Justin (NJ USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mega Man Network Transmission (Video Game)
Before I begin this review, I would like to state that anyone who says that this game is too hard, did not take the time to play past the first two boss fights. If they did, then they would realize that the game actually gets easier as you play it and get more power ups and battle chips. With that said, this game is very good. It takes place in-between the first and second Battle Network games. It continues right where the first game left off, when Mega Man had just defeated the Life Virus and saved the Internet. Months later, a new threat, called the Zero Virus has invaded the net and Lan and Mega Man have to stop it and make the net safe once again. Gameplay wise, this plays less like the Battle Network games and more like the classic Mega Man's. It's done in the old side-scrolling style like the previous installments, but also includes some features from Battle Network. You keep twenty battle chips in your chip folder and can use up to five at a time. These include swords, bombs, etc. You also collect power ups for your buster and subchips that do things like heal your character and unlock certain cubes in which you collect items from. You've probably heard that this game is incredibly difficult because of the first boss, Fireman. This is not true as long as you know what to do. For example, Fireman will use an attack where he uses a flamethrower that's a little hard to dodge. What you have to do is simply slide under this and use a strong battle chip like aquasword against him. The game progressively gets easier as you play it instead of harder, due to the power ups you collect later on. Your character is pretty weak without these, but if you take the time, Mega will eventually be stronger, able to shoot faster, and have the ability to charge shot just like the classic Mega Man's. Overall, Fans of the classic Mega Man games or the Battle Network games should at give this game a look. I give it a 4 out of 5 because I thought the game could have been a little longer, but otherwise, it definately qualifies for at least a rental. Check it out.

I seen all the reviews that came in for this game.first of all the people that write a bad review for this game are complete morons. I have this game and i found it very fun and challenging. this is the first game that i got on the gamecube that is. It is the same old megaman but added features. Like chips that help u defeat bosses and enemies. Also yeah your buster is weak but u find power ups that make it stronger. so in reality it is a mixture of megaman and megaman x but it has old megaman bosses with a new look. the people that gives this a bad review don't have any stragety and that is what it takes to beat the bosses. I am a hardcore megaman fan,but i never tried the battle network series untill now and i'm impressed. i give it 5 stars because i liked everything about the game and i hope they make sequel to it. The graphics are awsome and the people that don't, don't know what they are talking about. i got my moneys worth out of this game. also the people that don't like this game and say they are megaman fans, they aren't. Like my title it is megaman with a new twist.
